Grandma's Pride

Article posted January 14, 2008 at 07:47 PM GMT0 • Reads 41

Making connections to what we read is one of the best ways to build reading comprehension. We understand stories better when we connect them to past memories or the world around us. After listening to this Mark Twain award winner, share a connection you may have with this story. It can be a text-to-text connection. (Is there another book you have read that reminds you of this one?) It can be a text-to-self connection. (Does this book remind you of something that has happened to you or a personal feeling?) It can be a text-to-world connection. (Does this book remind you of another place in the world or another event in time?)
