I am joining the gorgeous learners at Pukehina School after the July holidays. We are going to use this class blogmeister to blog away to our good friends in Room 3, Te Akau ki Papamoa. We would like to welcome anyone else that would like to join in and look forward to making more links to other NZ classrooms and our global learning community.

With the Olympics just around the corner, there will be a fantastic opportunity to discover more about the athletes and the organisation itself. We are going to have lots of fun working with this topic. If you are also working on Olympics, let us know so we can see your blogging too.

Our class has a little buddy traveling overseas this week. His name is Pipi and he comes from the farmlands behind Pukehina Beach. He a very cute looking bird, with a black back, purple body and red beak and feet. Here are some photos of him with his friend, Crazy Funky Monkey, and with us in our classroom.

My friend - Crazy Funky Monkey!
Article posted August 12, 2008 at 08:14 AM GMT0 • Reads 50
&usernameHi, my name is Pipi the Pukeko. I am a native bird of New Zealand and I live in swamp conditions, so my name means 'swamp hen'. I have been living at Pukehina School for the last 2 years.
Now that I have grown up a little, I have decided to venture out into the world. My friend, Crazy Funky Monkey, thinks that I should stay here, where it is safe and warm. He says that I will find it hard to make friends as nice as the children in my class.
What do you think? Are the people in Europe as friendly as those in New Zealand?
I am very nervous, but I think I will be ok. Crazy Funky Monkey cried when we hugged good bye. I didn't, but I did get some dust in my eyes
so he thinks I was!
We are going to get the children in Room 2 to help us write to each other. Please keep an eye out for it, and join in by commenting too.
