Making the Monkey

Article posted January 7, 2008 at 03:29 PM GMT0 • Reads 141

When I followed the tutorial to learn Scratch I found it to be difficult because there were so many buttons to click on and the tutorial (in my opinion) didn't make it clear on what to do.

When we created the Monkey Game is Scratch, I liked doing it that way because Mrs. Oro helped us through it step by step. I feel successful about the outcome because I tried my best and now I know easier ways to work Scratch.

When you teach Scratch to the sixth grade you should teach them slowly because it can be a complicated program if you don't let them understand one topic before you introduce the next.

In Scratch, I feel that you can make almost any game easily. After you create the game, you can go back to it any time to play it. Lastly, you can make as many games as you want without deleting you old ones.

Someone else might enjoy Scratch because you can make computer games without all those complicated processes. Also, it's very easy to edit your work.

In Scratch, I wish that I could make the animations 3-D.

Review

1)If I was the king, I would have let the teller of the story "The Boy With Twelve Toes" live because the story was very interesting and unique.

2)I thought the plot was an adaptation of many stories combined, because it was about someone who didn't fit in but lived happily ever after. Although, I do think the author made it her own.

3) The conflict in the story is that the boy was born with twelve toes. I thought the conflict added interest and suspense, and the climax and resolution was satisfying. Although, I do think the author should have lead into the end of the story slower and could have added another small conflict.

4) In this story, the characters are not realistic because teddy bears can't talk and most people are not usually born with twelve toes. I thought the characters were very individual, and I could picture them in my mind. Although, I do think that the author could have described their facial features and details more, just to add to the affect. I also thought the dialogue described the characters personality well, and that she really made it so I could understand the character's point of view.

5) I think she added a good amount of details. Although, as I said before, I would have liked for her to have described the facial features more.

6) I think the boy with twelve toys lived in quite an average place, for the story didn't really describe the environment.

7) I really couldn't see any type of culture in the story, so I think those details should be added. Although, even without the culture, I could picture the boy's everyday life and relationships.

8)I think the grammar of the story could have been better and she shouldn't have used the same words in each sentence.

9) The story is about how even an outcast in a civilization can be accepted by someone if they are nice and kind. It really shows that your appearance isn't the only thing that matters.

10) I thought this story had a message about that your appearance isn't the only thing that matters. I think that is why I really loved this story.
