Monkey Madness

Article posted January 7, 2008 at 03:30 PM GMT0 • Reads 158

When I followed the tutorial to learn Scratch I found it to be difficult because I didn't really understand how to get the monkey to move the right way, and what numbers to punch in.

When we created the Monkey Game in Scratch, I liked doing it that way because I found it to be a lot easier when we did it step by step. It was much easier to follow. I felt successful in the beginning because I thought it was easy, but when we were doing it on our own, I started getting lost.

When you teach the sixth grade you should start it the same way you did for us, all together. You could then maybe try something a little less complex, in my opinion, because I had a hard time.

I feel I can make the characters fairly well. I feel I can record the noises well, and I feel I can decorate the background nicely.

Some things other people might enjoy about Scratch are the limits you have on creating anything you want, the fun you have using your imagination.

The one thing I wish I could do a little better is understand what numbers and directions to put in, to make everything move.

Review

1.If I was the king I would let the author who told "The Boy with Twelve Toes" live one more day to prove themselves. I didn't hate the story but I thought it could've been a little more suspenseful. There wasn't much of a climax. But I did enjoy it.

2. I thought it was similar to a few stories I heard before, but I thought it was very creative and pretty exciting.

3. I feel there was a conflict, but not enough of one to knock my socks off. I thought it was all resolved nicely though. I am a big fan of happy endings.

4. No, the characters are certainly not realistic. Teddy bears cannot talk but I felt it was exciting. We get to know the characteristics of the characters when they speak to one another. Because you can feel their personalities through their words.

5. Yes I thought they used a very nice choice of vocabulary. I felt I was reading a published book, and I felt I was there, in the cave with them. I don't think words need changing.

6. I don't believe they really showed any of their culture through the story, but I still liked it.

7. I unfortunately learned nothing from this person's culture, and I felt that they could've added more about their culture. It would've been more original.

8. I would say the conflict needed more work. It didn't quite excite me as much as I thought it would.

9. This story reveals that "The Boy with Twelve Toes" is a message that is saying, it doesn't matter what you look like, just stay strong, and if you fight for what's right, you'll end up happy.

10. I thought it was an exciting story, but I didn't LOVE it. I felt it could've been a little more suspenseful, but it wasn't bad.
