The Haunted House

I really want to go to a haunted house with my cousins and parents. I heard that when you do something bad the guards that are there can arrest you. My sister and I really want to go. We might go on October 31, 2008, because my cousin wants to go trick-or-treating this year and I think she doesn't want to go next year. My sister and I can’t wait anymore. Sometimes I don’t care because I can do other fun stuff. Like going to the theater is fun. When we get home from the haunted house I hope I go again sometime. THE END

THE CAMERA CREW VISIT

On Monday a camera crew came to our classroom. They were video taping us. They set up some bright lights and then interviewed students and Mr. Crosby and they recorded sound. They used lots of equipment. They used a camera, 4 bright lights, a mini microphone for Mr. Crosby and a big one for everybody. They all had a different job. One of their jobs was to control the camera, another to record the sound and the third one to be director/producer. They filmed us when we were on our laptops doing Funbrain, our math facts and on Google Earth. I think it was interesting because they filmed us while doing Google Earth on the interactive board. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever done. THE END

HALLOWEEN NIGHT

I celebrate Halloween because I know that my friends are going so I can have fun. Also because you lose some weight by running and walking a lot. I didn’t dress up because my Mom didn’t have money to buy me a costume. I told my mom that I planned to be Scream but my Mom told me to not dress up. I think it was special because we were trick or treating all over Carson City and I got lots of candy. We even got games to play with. I spent a lot of time with a whole group of friends that were trick or treating all over the apartments across the street.

SKYPE STORY

On Thursday we Skyped with a class in Silver Springs, Maryland. It was cool because the students in Maryland sent us 12 videos. We asked questions and they asked us questions. The camera froze but we still got to hear them. Some of the videos were funny and some were interesting. Everybody in this class thought that we were going to Skype stutents in New York but it turned out to be in Maryland. It was interesting because we talked to 8th graders in another state. I liked the movie Because of Checkers where the Chicken Boy song was sung. THE END

If you asked me a question like do you play soccer? Your answer to that is yes. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 or 5 years old. I’ve played in a soccer team with Miguel before. In about a week I start indoor soccer. In indoor you have to play fast and run fast. When I play indoor soccer that is on Monday. I’m going to play on my 3rd team. I get my indoor soccer shoes on Saturday. I can’t wait to get my indoor soccer shoes because I get to pick any pair I want. My coach said that we were going to play on Monday November 12. They changed the game till next Monday because they didn’t finished cleaning up the floor. It is going to be my first time playing indoor. I have played outside soccer. HARVEST FEAST

I think this feast is going to be great. I might like the turkey because it’s going to be a great taste. On Thursday I will have 2 turkeys, fish, maybe beans and some soda. I might eat at my Uncle’s house because some people from California are coming to see my other Uncle at the hospital. They sleep in my house because they don’t have anywhere else to sleep. One of my Uncles sleeps in a hotel. The turkey from the feast we had smells like an old turkey that was under dirt. Today we ate Thanksgiving food. We ate turkey, cod, salmon, venison, duck, bread, green beans, corn, pumpkin pie, cranberries and ginger ale. I went to get more food 2 times. The food that I ate the most was the turkey and the bread. I liked the Venison [Deer] the most. It’s the first time eating pumpkin pie. THE END

BROKEN WINDOW

Have you ever had a broken window? Our class has. I remember one day I was walking home and I saw a broken window. It wasn’t as big as ours. It was only a little crack. Our broken window was almost half of the window. There was glass all over the floor. Almost everybody had glass by their table. On the bottom of my table were lots of glass. GIFT STORY

On a Christmas Eve morning my Mom, Dad, Sister and I were at California. The next morning it was Christmas. My Sister and I were very excited. I couldn’t wait to open my presents so I opened them at about 9 o’clock in the morning. I got 3 soccer balls, remote control car and a PS2 with games. AN INVENTION



If I had an invention that worked with headphones and that allowed me to control people’s mind I would use it all the time. I would be able to learn division, multiplication, addition and subtraction. I could get me all the answers without me telling the students. I could even get the answers from the teachers if we had a test. I wouldn’t need help on almost everything we do. Learning mutipacation and division can be really hard sometimes. One day I was outside with my sister. We had a snowball fight and we had lots of fun. My sister throws really hard. I got hit on the chest and I fell down. One day he cared for a kid from Finsterwald’s backyard. Maniac Magee teached Grayson how to read. Grayson gave a baseball glove to Maniac. That was the glove that he struck out Willie Mays. He went to Grayson’s funeral. Another day Russel got stuck on a railroad track. Maniac didn’t want to rescue Russel from the track because that was the place where his parents passed away. One of my favorite things is bloging. You first need a wiki page to blog. The second thing you need to do is to have a blog post[story] so you could go paste. After pasting you click on Request Publishing then you press save. It goes as in E-mail to the teacher. The teacher has to approve the story or not. If he does approve the story it will appear on the blog. After the blog is posted, other people from the earth will leave you comments. It will also go as an E-mail to the teacher. GETTING A CHRISTMAS TREE

One day I came home from school and my Mom was still working. My Aunt came for me and my sister. We went to her house. When my Mom went for us we went to the store to buy a Christmas tree. GOING TO WILD ISLAND



One Saturday morning I woke up at 8 o’clock and started to play my Play Station 2 in my living room. 2 hours later my Mom told me that she was going to the store to buy me a new jacket. She also said that we were going to a party at Wild Island. After about 3 hours later I was still playing my Play Station 2. After about an hour later, I started to put my Play Station 2 away. After that we drove to my aunt’s house to go leave my sister. After we drove to my aunt’s house we drove to Wild Island. When we got there I was so excited. One day I was in my car and saw that it was snowing. When I got out of my car I asked my Mom if I could go outside in the snow. She said,“Only if you help me clean your room and do the dishes”. I said,“OK”. So we did all that. After I was finished I went to my room and started to change clothing. When I finished I asked my sister if she wanted to go outside with me. HOW TO EDIT YOUR STORY

I know you guys know how to edit your own story but i’m going to give you a little more examples.

First you proofread carefully, second you spell check, third you fix mistakes like correct English. I always double space my story so when I print it out i’ll be able to fix mistakes.

Our teacher says that we have to paragraph. After I do all these things I save and give it a name.

The next day we come to school Mr.Crosby tells us to get out our laptop and work on our story. After about 15 minutes later he tells us to read every word with our finger and read the story to find any mistakes we didn’t find the day before.

So those are some examples to edit your story.

On February 6, 2008 we Skyped a class in Canada. We didn’t know that our class blog was blocked until the other class in Canada went to our class blog and found out that it was blocked. I felt bad a thought we will not blog anymore.

Once during the summer I went to the pool with my cousins and sister.

When we got there I went into the pool and started to swim. Then this kid came and started squirting people. My cousin and I started playing with him. I moved around trying to get him but he saw me and started squirting at me. I went under water but when I went back up I got squirt in the eye when it was open.

On February 20, 2008 during school our teacher told us that there was going to be a Lunar Eclipse. I had never seen one before. When I went outside I didn’t see the Moon. I went outside for like about 30 minutes. The weather was normal and cloudy. When my Dad and I went outside we couldn’t see anything.

When my Dad and I went outside we couldn’t see anything.

After my soccer game I went out to see the Eclipse but I didn’t see the Moon around me.

When we drove back home I still didn’t see the Moon. It was pretty hard to find because it was cloudy.

With all those clouds in the way I couldn’t see the Moon or the whole Eclipse.

MY TRIP TO MEXICO

On December of the year 2004 I was very excited because I was going to Mexico with my cousin and my sister to see my grandma and grandpa and of course all my cousins.

When we landed it was day time so some of my cousin and my aunt’s came to pick us up.

My Cousins and I went to the park where there is goalie boxes to play soccer. So we played there but then I was thirsty so I went to buy some juice.

After a little while I went to my Grandma’s house to see her. I asked where my Grandpa was. She answered me that he was with my other aunt to take care of the dogs while she was at the store. I said that I was going to take a shower so when we go to my aunt’s house I will be clean. I went to look for my bag but it wasn’t there. I asked my oldest cousin “where's my bag’’. She answered me “I don’t know”. My other Cousin went to the airport to see if it was there. She called and said that it was there. She brought it home so I can finally take a shower. When I was finished we went to my aunt’s house. I got to see my aunt’s dogs. She has about 23 puppies and the mother. At about 6:00 we ate tacos. I was very hungry but I only ate 2 tacos and then went outside to play soccer but I waited for a little because I didn’t want to thought up.

The next day I went to my cousin’s house to play his playstation2. After a while I went outside to play soccer then these other kids come walking and asked “do you want to play a soccer game”. My Cousins answered yes. I play for a little bit but then I gave up. The place we played looked like ice. After that we went to play FIFA 08 for a while because my Cousin said that we were going to my Grandma’s house because we were going to open our presents.

I got a remote control car but it didn’t have batteries. This kid got the same remote control car but it did have batteries.

We went outside to celebrate Christmas. We only danced.

We went to the theater to see Spider-Man the first movie and I was really excited.

We went to sleep like at about 2:00 a.m. because we were watching Chucky the movie.

In the morning we went to the airport because we were going home. When we got on the plane I was really scared because when we go up in the sky it feels like if we were dropping down the sky. I will never get on a plane again. Only if it is very important. When I got to the airport my Mom and Dad said that they had Christmas presents for me and my Sister. And that was my trip to Mexico.

I was walking home one day when I saw a bird off in the distance flying in my direction . As it got closer I notice it didn’t look like any bird II have ever seen. It kept flying towards me and to my amazement it zoomed right up to me and landed softly on my shoulder. I wasn’t sure what to do. I thought it was cool, but it also made me very nervous. Then it bent it’s neck to look me straight in the eye and suddenly it flew off my shoulder and then an elephant stepped on it. The bird had a big family and every time birds had baby birds it got even bigger, but the elephant stepped on each bird and the bird family got smaller and smaller and they they wanted to eat the elephant but they flew away. I was trying to find them but I couldn’t find them. The elephant stepped on a person named Fred. Fred was looking for Gissel was super bad. She had learned how dropped kick her brother Cesar.

We had just sat down on the school bus that was taking us on our field trip when the bus driver stood up, turned around and in a loud voice said, “ We are not going on the trip you thought we were. Your class has won a trip to a very special place.”

The next thing we knew some kind of gas started to spray from the ceiling and we all fell asleep in our seats. When we woke up hours later we found out we had been taken to the North Pole. When we got off the bus we saw many elves.

They had many different kinds of toys. Cesar and Lorenzo were like giants to the elves. The elves were asking Lorenzo and Cesar different kinds of questions. Then they asked them if they could be there kings. Cesar and Lorenzo said sure as quick as they could.

A few weeks from Christmas went by and a evil person named Jay came every year to boss the elves around. A little sweet elf said, “you have to see this it’s an evil Santa clone”. Then Victor[he was a really bad guy] turned very nice. He also made mind control power. Victor, Lorenzo and Cesar were the kings of the North pole. Then there was this bad guy named Luis. Going To Maropolis

Morning



On May 6, 2008, my Mom and I were thinking of a lunch that could wiegh exacly 22 ounces for Marsopolis.

About Marsopolis



Marsopolis is when 500 students or more gather up at the Reno Livestock Events Center in the state of Nevada where we pretend to take a trip to Mars.

Getting to school

When I got to school I started to tape the pencils on to the Marsopolis journal.

Wieghting my lunch

I wieghed my lunch and it wieghed about 27 ounces. I drank out of my water and then after I drank out of my water it wieghed 22 ounces.

Getting on the bus

When we got on the bus it was kind of nosier than in a classroom. On the bus, I sat by my friend Lorenzo.

Getting to Marsopolis

When we got to Marsopolis I was feeling a little nervous. I saw a lot of students, there were more than 400 students and about 60 parents. I sat down really nervous.

Meeting our team members

My group and I met our team members. All of them were from the United States.

Building our habitat

We cut up the plastic to make it an 8x8 to match to all the other ones.



Riddles

We had problem with the riddles because it was loud around us. I had to repeat the riddles because of the loud noise.

Lunch

I had 2 small burritos with water. I took some peanuts with me to eat as a snack. We had lunch outside our habitat. Our group was behind the habitat. The rest ate by the door.

System Presentation

The presentation was cool and loud. After we did our presentation I shared the riddles we made.

Riddle

I had a problem with the riddles because it was loud around us. I had to repeat the riddle because of the loud noise.

Going outside

When we went outside we played games. Mr. Crosby told Tyler C. a phrase and we passed the phrase from Tyler C. to Miguel. After that we raced from one side to another jogging. After we raced we played a game called duck, duck, goose.

Going back inside

When we went back inside the habitats were together. When you go through they call it the Habitat Walk Through. It was cool but, in the middle of the habitats they messed something up. We had to crawl to the other habitat. Some of the habitats were big and some were small.

When the Ambulance came

The ambulance came because a kid got a big broose on his forehead. It looked very bad.

At the end of Marsopolis the bus picked us up. We got to school 5-7 minutes later. I went to the class to pick up my backpack, then I went home. The End

One night my coach told me to get $20.00 dollars to go to the fair. At first my Mom and Dad didn’t let me but then I got mad then my Mom gave me $20.00 dollars then we left. When we got there we went to buy tickets but the bracelet cost $20.00 so we all got it. At first we went on the diamond. At first I was scared because it was a long time since I got on it so I kind of got scared. Then we went to the bumper cars. Then we went on one that was not scary because we went low but then all of a sudden it started to higher and higher. I was scared because I was at the side and it was on the side that was looking down and it was scary. After that Roberto went on a big ride that Nestor and I were freaked out from. Then Nestor got on it but then he got off because he was scared. On the second time he did actually go on it. After that ride we went on it and it was my first time. I notice that it wasn't scary it just goes high then it goes really fast down. We went on it about 8 or 9 times. Then Nestor and I went on the diamond then Nestor told the guy to turn off the light then he said “ok”. Then when he turn the lights off Nestor started to scream and sing and it was funny. Roberto went to buy cotton candy. After the diamond Nestor and I went on a ride that drifts and goes really fast. After that we went to go eat pizza at pizza plus. When I got home I was tired and sleepy.

7 Random Facts





I like soccer because it is a fun sport and it is fun because you get excited and you never know if you will win or lose unless you know how the team plays. I like baseball too because one time when my Cousin came from California my Uncle took us to the bating cages and it was fun. At first I was scared of the ball because I thought it was going to hit me, but then I did it and it was cool for a first try. I like the movie Kicking & Screaming because I think the funniest one is the small chinese kid when he get a cup and started hitting himself on the knee. The first time we saw that movie we were laughing a lot. Math is my favorite subject in school because we do this thing where the teacher puts for example 2x(2+4)= and we have to do the problem in order. I like those kind of problems because those are the problems that you show a lot of work and it is also cool. I like many different cars but the one I like the most is the Expedition because inside it is very big and the seats are cool because when you put it in the shad in the summer and later when you get in you will feel that the seats are cold. The only thing I don’t like about those trucks is that they waste a lot of gas. I like indoor soccer because we can’t trip or get hurt. This year I am going to play indoor soccer and not only am I going to play indoor soccer I’m going to play in a championship tournament and I’m going to play every Wednesday and Sunday. Wednesday game is the original tournament and on Sunday it is the championship tournament. I think that we are going to have a great time. I also like a sport that is like soccer and football at the same time. In the middle of the field is like normal football and when you want to pass the ball you can kick it. Then when you are about to get a touchdown you don’t because at that point it is like soccer because you have to kick it to score.

Phone Number

Having your phone number or even cellphone number on the internet is dangerous. People that you don’t know can contact you. They could find out where you live and they could also get your last name.

Address

It is not safe to have your address on the internet. People that don’t like you could find your house. If others know you have valuables they could break in. A stranger could find you.

License Plates

You should not have a picture of your license plates. If a stranger finds that picture they could write down notes of how the looks and the letters of the license plates.

Facebook/Myspace

Having a myspace is not safe. You could get messages that say to meet you somewhere and get you. It will be scary and sad to not see you for a week or two.

Skypeing With Mr. Mayo’s Class

On October 15, 2008 we skyped with Mr. Mayo’s class. We were learning about how to be safe on the internet and to not talk to strangers. This is our vignette. One Sunday afternoon Bobby decided to go on the internet and went on Myspace. When he did he found an embarrassing picture of himself in a swim suit on his friend Erick’s Myspace page. Erick had put Bobby’s name and the name of his school under the picture. So the next day at school Bobby asked his friend Erick if he put the picture of him on Myspace. Erick said yes!!! Bobby asked Erick if he would like it if he put a photo of him on the internet. Erick thought a minute and then said he would take Bobby’s photo down right away. Don’t post inappropriate pictures online especially your friends. The first thing we did was each of us wrote a part of the story a see which one was the most exciting. When our group presented our vignette I was nervous. During the video-conference their computer didn’t want to work. They saw us but we didn’t see them. So we had to do that for a little while they all of a sudden the video showed up and now we could see them.

One morning when I was walking to Roberto’s house I found my friend that lives in our apartments sitting inside his house. When he saw me he opened the door. I asked him if he wanted to go to Roberto’s house, he said yes. When we got to Roberto’s house he told us that he took had a shower. I asked him if he was going to go to the game, he said yes! He went to go get ready. When he came out he had his uniform but he didn’t have his cleats on. He had everything in his backpack.

When we left to my house my Mom and Dad were all ready in the car. Roberto and I had to go on the very back of the car because my Sister and my Grandparents went to the game too. My Dad started the car and we took off and drove to the Miguel Ribera park.

When we arrived there, there was not a lot of players there. After a while everybody started to come when our coach got there.

We warmed up and ran around the whole field 2 times. After that we got in a circle and we had to call out somebody’s name then we had to pass it to them. After a while when the other game finished we went to the field to shoot at the goalie. Then the referee blow the whistle. Our coach told us to go see our position. Then we got our I.D. and gave it to the referee.

We were ready to start but the referee told our goalie to change his shirt because it was the same color as our uniform. Then the referee blow the whistle start the game. Lobitos started off with the ball, 15 minutes later they shot the ball and they missed. It was a goal kick. Roberto came in and Daniel was about to kick it but Roberto kicked it instead. When Roberto kicked it he kicked it to me. When I got the ball there were like 3 or 4 players around me so I took one on and then centered it. My friend Pepe tried to do a cool trick but he missed the ball and the goalie grabbed it. The goalie kicked it out and Roberto got it and passed it to Pepe but this time he did score. So the game was 1-0 and we were winning. After a while we were still winning then the referee blow the whistle for half time.

Our coach told us that we were playing good. He said that if we lose we are out so we had to try our best. He also said that some people had errors. Then he said that we have to play better that we did the first half. The referee blow the whistle so second half would start. Pepe and Johnny started with the ball. Johnny passed the ball to Roberto and Roberto passed it to Pepe and he took it all the way then Luis shot it and scored. The game was 2-0. Lobitos made a lot of changes. After a while it was a throw in for them. They through it to one of the Lobitos players they our defense passed it to me. I took it all the way they I centered it. That center went into the goalie box. Everybody started to cheer. The game was now 3-0. The game was 5 minutes to end. After I scored our coach took me out. Lobitos had practiced all week to beat us. They wanted to go to the semi-finals. 3 minutes later the referee blow the whistle to say the game was over. Everybody was happy that we passed to the semi-finals.

Our coach talked to us for a while about everything we did in the game. Then a guy gave us cupcakes because we won.

After the coach talked to us we went to another field where the small kids were playing. That team was the same as us but they were 9 year olds. When I got there when they were in the second half. Then a kid from the other team touched it with his hand and so it was a penalty. Their coach told the goalie to go shoot it. He had shot it and then he score. After a while they finish and they went to extra time. At the end of the game the blue team won and everybody was happy. They also went to the semi-finals like us.

Then Roberto and I got in the car. My Mom wanted to go to the pizza because we had beat Lobitos 3-0.

One morning when I got to school we had to answer some questions that were on our wiki page. Then at 9:15 we went to our intervention class. In that class we have to get to a higher level of reading. When we came back Mr. Crosby was on Google Earth. Then we went to Iceland. Then Mr.Crosby told us that Alan Levine was going to Skype with us. At first we didn’t know Alan. Then Mr. Crosby told us that he was a guy that was with him in China. Then most of the class got excited. Then he said that Alan was going to come in 2 weeks to visit. Then Mr. Crosby put up the Skype thing on the board, and he called Alan. While we were waiting for him to answer he was talking about how they knew each other. When he answered, everybody said hi! with excitement. Alan said that he had to take care of a house because the owners went on a vacation. He also said that he had to take care of 18 horses and a dog. He said that if 1 horse gets lost he had to contact someone to help find the horse. Then he showed us the dog, he said she made the sheep go into the cage. After a while he showed us coins. He said that some of them were worth less than a 1 cent. After that he talked about Iceland. Karla asked what the climate is in Iceland. He said that most of the days parents let their children stay out until 11:00 at night because it was still light outside.

He said that the owners of the house were going to make him a special Thanksgiving dinner.

When I Became a Reindeer

It was Christmas Eve and I was asleep on my bed. When I heard a noise in the living room, I had wondered who it was, I thought it was my parents, but when I went to their room there were asleep. When I went downstairs I saw a guy with a big red jacket and big black boots. I was so excited that I went up stairs and into my sister’s room. She didn’t want to wake up, but when I told her that Santa Claus was downstairs, she woke up and went downstairs. When we got downstairs Santa Claus was gone. We looked out the window because we thought we could still see him. My sister and I were very sad, so we went back to sleep. After a while I heard a knock at my window. Santa was at the window waiting for me to open it. I got excited that I went to go call my sister and she went to the window to help Santa get in. He told me that one of his reindeer broke it’s leg and it can’t fly anymore. He asked me if I wanted to be a reindeer for just one night. I told him that I would like to be one. Santa Claus took out a bag of magic and started to pour it all over me. I started to turn a little of a brownish color, and started to get kind of hairy then when the antlers started to come out I started to cry. We went downstairs then we went up the chimney and off we went to the North Pole. When we got to the North Pole we left walking inside the other way. Santa Claus went down with his sleigh and when he went down the sleigh was like magic because it was floating. We had to rest and get a good sleep to deliver thousands of presents the next night.

In the morning Santa Claus went to the coffee shop to have some coffee. At 5:00pm we got ready and we helped put the toys on the sleigh, then we left. When we got to the first house we had to stand on a very thick roof. The other reindeer had practiced standing up on thick roofs, but I didn’t know how. I looked at Vixen’s hooves to see if I can get an idea of how to stand. When Santa Claus came back we left to many other different houses. While we were delivering presents I noticed that we stopped by my house. I told all the reindeer that the house we were on was my house. They asked me if I have another sister. I said yes. They started to put more toys for my parents, my sister and I. Santa didn’t finish putting the presents in our house. It was about to be 8:00am when we finished half the world. We couldn’t do the other half because it was to late and we were tired. We went back to the North Pole Santa Claus turned me back to normal and sent me back home with magic. My sister knew everything that happen so I told her to not say anything of what happened. My parents came up stairs and said, “it’s breakfast time”. I went down and told my Dad that I had gone to the North Pole. After a while he started to laugh and say that it was all in your imagination. I told him, “it’s true, if you don’t believe me then I will prove it to you”. I went up stairs and when I brought the reindeer down. They thought it was just a normal deer. I told them “it can fly”. I got on it and it started to float up in the air. Then they asked me, “isn’t that one of Santa’s reindeer? I told them, “yes”. They kept on asking me why I had took it.

Now every weekends Santa will send one reindeer to my house and knock on my window and take me to the North Pole to visit.

One morning when we came in, we talked about a project we are doing. It’s called the Reno Bike Project. We are trying to help people donate their bike so other people can ride them. When we were done with that we watched a short video about a college student that was in Mr. Crosby’s class 6 years ago. Then we went to lunch. Then when we came back from recess a guy named Juan was here he told us all about college and high school. He said that he studies biology. He is going to go to UNR. He said that he likes science and he also likes to do research. Right now he is in vacation. He is taking a class of music, math and english. He said that to go to UNR you have to pay about 14,000 dollars for 1 year. He paid 450 dollars for a book. His friends cut open some cats, human bodies and animals. He said that he went to Hawaii for free. He said that when he was in 6th

grade his goal was to go to college. He said that he wants his sister to do better in school. He also said that he went from lower grades to higher grades. He thinks math is easy so he does it every time. He said that when he was in high school he was in the football team. He told us that Mr. Crosby is a helpful teacher. He also said that if we don’t understand something to ask for help. He said that some teachers in college are very strict. Every time you have a class you make your own schedule. Juan has 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He said that he works at Kmart. He wants to become a pediatrician. That is when Juan came.

One morning a woman’s basketball team came. One of the player’s name is Cherlanda and the other one is Kayla. Cherlanda said that she started to play basketball when she was 11. Kayla said that they run a lot. Evereth asked what position there are. Cherlanda said that they are both forwards. Cherlanda said that she is from Arizona and then Kayla said that she is from Reno. Kayla said that his dad was a basketball coach. Cherlanda said that they go to different places to play. The day before they came they returned from Montana. They told us that every time they travel they get some kind of rules. One rule I know is that when it’s Winter they can’t go snow boarding because they might get injured. Someone asked them what the team name was. Cherlanda said that it is Reno Wolf Pack. Cherlanda said that they played 15 games and they lost 7 games. They said that they run the track a lot. Kayla use to go to Reed High School. Cherlanda and Kayla have a lot of trophies. Kayla has other brothers and sisters and Cherlanda is the only child. They said that sometime they are on TV. Someone ask what Cherlanda’s favorite basketball team is. She said that she go's for the Lakers in the NBA. Cherlanda said that she has been playing sports since she was 3. I have been playing sports since I was like 5. Kayla’s said that during the break they have 2 practices a day. They said that they do some shots before games to warm up. When we have games we do some shots before games.

Rockets



The fascinating thing about rockets is that it needs to be pointing upwards to get to space. A rocket needs to go sideways to reach orbit. A rocket is a missile and an aircraft. There are still 28 space shuttle flights scheduled. On February 25, 2007 Iran launched it’s first space rocket. The most famous space rocket is the Saturn V Moon Rocket. What you can learn is how to comment on blogs and if you don’t know how to exlain things you can explain in your story and get better at it.



How Would Blogging Help:



It would help kids that need help in writing and reading. You can learn how to explain your story if you don’t know how to. It is hard when you have to find mistakes if you are not good at it, and that’s what you can learn.

Today we Skyped a class in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Most of the kids are 10 years old. There favorite sport is soccer. I think it is because there is a soccer team named Argentina. It is a professional soccer team from the International league. We asked them what grade they were in. They said they are in the 5th grade. Then we asked them what there favorite foods were. They said it was Pizza and Cheeseburgers. We went to go do our presentation to our the class in Argentina. They go to a school named Goethe Schule. Schule is the word for school in German. They speak 3 different languages. They speak German, English, and Spanish.

Today we Skyped with a class in Nelson, New Zealand. Their school name is Appleby Shool. They sang a song in the Maori language. They asked us where we lived, then Jerico went to go answer. We asked them what their population was. They said it was 42,000 people in Nelson, New Zealand. They also said that 4 million people live in New Zealand. Their school grades are from 1st to 6th. There favorite food is chicken. They call the chickens chooks. They asked us how we get to school. Luis showed them his skateboard because they have never seen one before. They also told us that their school hours are from 9am to 3pm just like us. They told us that they have 200 days on school. They also said that their favorite animal is the cheetah. Then a student in New Zealand asked if any of us had pets. Then she told us that she had 7 dogs.

Mars Systems

The two systems we did for Marsopolis were a glider and a car.





The Glider:


The glider has huge wings so that the glider can be in the air. The glider has very big wings because the atmosphere on Mars is very thin. The cockpit is in the middle and has a emergency parachute. The glider also has a flap to help it get in the air. It also has landing gear so it can stand up.

The Car:


The car works by solar power and wind turbines in the axle of the tire. The car also has big wheels to move the rocks out of the way on Mars. The car also has cameras and a satellite dish. The satellite dish senses big rocks and other obstacles then turns the cameras to that direction. The car also has a nose so it could be aerodynamic.

5th and 6th Grade Times

In 5th grade we skyped with Mr. Mayo’s class. They sent us videos that their 8th graders made. Then mostly every morning, we would work on our wiki page. Then we did a project called Harris Burdick. We each got pair with two other people to work on it. We made a story of the subject we got assigned to. Then we went to Marsopolis, we had worked on our system for more than two weeks almost everyday. After that we went to TMCC to take pictures for a magazine. Then we started to work on a blog video that we didn’t even finish. After that one day we came to school and we found our classroom window broken. Then we did a blog post about it. Then came 6th grade. We did a project on internet safety. We did a story on our blog about 7 random facts about us. Then we did a project call “Around The World With 80 Schools”. Some of the schools are from Argentina, Florida, New Zealand, China, Thailand, Canada and Wisconsin. After that came the RBP (Reno Bike Project). We made an ad and posters. Then we skyped with a guy named Alan Levine in Iceland. Then like a week or two later he came to visit our class. Then we skyped with a guy named Will Richardson. He told us that he was a vegetarian. After that a bike racer named Alex came to our class to talk about bike racing. Then we went to Marsopolis for the second time. We didn’t as much time as we did when we were in 5th grade. Then the Reno Gazette Journal came for a whole day. After that we went on a field trip to the Reno Bike Project. Then we work on our blog. Then we did a project that we have to research on the internet then write a short story about whatever we researched.
