THE XO

Article posted February 5, 2008 at 07:48 PM GMT0 • Reads 195

By Gwendalin

The XO is a laptop for kids in need, such as kids who live with no electricity. I have been on the XO in room 12. In fact my whole class has. There are lots of things to do on there. Such as making videos, doing art, making music, playing games. I would buy one if I could afford it. It’s really FUN!

A fun day

Article posted February 6, 2008 at 08:55 PM GMT0 • Reads 179

I had a fun day yesterday! I came home from school and my cousin was at my house. My cousin's name is Faith, She is four. We went shopping for Valentines Day. Then we went to Barnes And Noble, I read my story called THE XO. I also heard my friends in room twelve and other peoples stories. They were all very good.

The Substitute

Article posted February 28, 2008 at 09:08 PM GMT0 • Reads 167

The substitutes that make learning as fun as it can be always come to me. It’s fun to have a substitute. But then you have to miss your teacher like me right now. I bet it’s hard to deal with talkers and the kids who don’t have a good attitude towards school, but I can probably be a substitute. Because when you have a good attitude towards something you might be good at it.

The BAD and GOOD Luck

Article posted March 18, 2008 at 12:08 AM GMT0 • Reads 183

Yes I believe in good luck and bad luck. I believe in it because on St.Patricks day, every, time I wear green I get good luck. But sometimes I just get bad luck.

The real story

I’ve had bad luck 'cause one time it was like a week before my birthday and I got grounded so I couldn’t have a birthday party and go to a baseball game for the Mariners. I was honored to go there because I was doing well in school. And another time I was going to go to wild waves so we asked somebody to hold our tickets but they didn’t so I was bummed because it was really hot outside and all we had was a kiddy pool.

I’ve had good luck because one time I found a shiny penny heads up. And a lot of other good things happened to me but I can’t remember right now. Bye-bye!

Things I Might Do For The Summer

Article posted March 18, 2008 at 08:54 PM GMT0 • Reads 172

For the summer I might go to Wild Waves I also might go travel somewhere. Like Texas. To go see my uncle who I haven't seen for like a year, and meet my aunt and my cousin live. I've seen them before but it was on a computer camera. So that doesn't count. I might visit my friend who I haven't seen in forever

Spring Break Plans

Article posted March 28, 2008 at 06:38 PM GMT0 • Reads 236

I don’t have any plans for spring vacation. But here are some things I would like to do.....

I would like to camp in the woods with our brand new van, with my grandmother, mother, my sister, and last but not least... ME!

I would like to go to Florida to meet my grandfather. And so my mom can see him again instead of just talking to him or texting him or just going on his my space or his blog. Plus, I could have chance to meet a couple of my uncles.

It also would be nice to go to a place called “Centralia” to see my grandpa Dan. To give him his Christmas present and he can play the mouse trap game he got me. I was also thinking about going to the “Tea Cup” with him and eat finger sandwiches and drink purple tea with him.

WASL WASL WASL

Article posted April 18, 2008 at 10:14 PM GMT0 • Reads 173

by Gwendalin

I’m having the WASL this year and the next two years. It’s really hard. The one thing I like about the WASL is you get to have snack to get your brain thinking. I like eating the snack during the WASL because we usually don’t get snack. You can’t use a pen or mechanical pencils. You have to do the WASL three years in a row.

WASL stands for Washington Assessment of Student Learning. If you are in another state or country you probably don’t do the WASL. You probably do some other test. It’s really tiring, it’s even really hard for grown ups. You could call it a “brain game’’ but one that teaches you stuff.

WARNING: If you are in Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd Grade I hope you paid attention and you weren’t out sick a lot. When you do this test it takes up most of your grades, well at least I think it does.

I don’t really like the WASL that much. I hate it because it’s really long and hard, it takes usually longer than a week. I’m now excited because it’s Friday, and I don’t have to do any more until next spring. My little sister will probably have a hard time, too, and so will you. I liked the three day math part more than the two day reading part. The math part was easier than the reading part.

On the reading part I missed recess and all of Music and half of P.E. and they were playing Danish Rounder’s. We only play Danish Rounder’s mostly when we have a substitute named Miss Luke. I was disappointed because I missed playing my favorite game.

EARTH DAY EARTH DAY

Article posted April 22, 2008 at 10:31 PM GMT0 • Reads 190

At Arbor Heights elementary school in Seattle, and some other schools in the world, we celebrated Earth Day. We celebrated Earth Day by decorating Safeway bags. First, our class told the whole school they could decorate bags. Next, we waited until they were finished coloring them. Then we got huge loads of bags. We got huge loads of bags because, we had to fix them like if they didn’t finish their bags we would have to finish it. If they miss spelled a word we would have to fix it. It was hard because we had to split 317 bags among 24 children. So we each had to do 10-15 bags. Oh yeah, Earth Day is on April 22. It should be on your calendar.

HAPPY EARTH DAY=http://=http://!!!

Thanks for Tami

Dear Mr. Malone,

Thank you for letting us use Tami, the XO, for the year. We got to play with her and experiment yet explore new things. We had fun while we could. It was also fun because now more kids could play on the XO’s.

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                                    Gwendalin :)

The perfect weekend

Article posted June 13, 2008 at 06:28 PM GMT0 • Reads 162

                                      The Perfect Weekend

The perfect weekend I ever had is when I got to go spend the night at my friend Samantha’s house. I got to spend the night for the weekend. I was excited because I haven’t seen her for about a year. It took a lot of planning. I couldn’t spend the night right away. I was just happy I could visit her. I was also able to see Christopher Junior, Angel, Chris, Juliet, and last but not least… well I forgot her name but I still know what she’s like. I was so excited to see her because she was my BFF (Best Friend Forever).

My Blog

Article posted June 13, 2008 at 08:57 PM GMT0 • Reads 756

My Favorite article is the WASL WASL WASL one. My favorite comment is the “I love your blog” one from Suad. My favorite blog besides mine is my friend Laurels blog.

My plans in the summer about keeping my blog, is trying to blog an article every single day, for the whole summer. I am also hoping my mom says yes to me keeping my blog for the summer….turns out she did!

I got my blog when I was 8. I’ve had my blog since December 19th 2007. So that means I’ve had my blog for about 7 months and two days.

I think having a blog is a good idea. It teaches kids to write better. It also gives kids a better feeling towards writing. I think kids should start having a blog at the age of 5 -6. They should have a blog while they are in Kindergarten. Let them learn how to write, teach them how………LET THEM HAVE A BLOG!!!!

If I could convince somebody to have a blog I would convince my little sister to have a blog. I would convince her to have a blog so she can build character. Also so she something like a My Space.
