How Many Left on the Bus?

Article posted March 8, 2008 at 07:28 PM GMT • Reads 125

ones 002 The grade ones have been working really hard at adding and subtracting numbers 1 through 12. Today they had to put their listening and problem solving skills to the test. I told the students a story about a bus driver picking students up and dropping them off. At each "stop" the grade ones had to decide whether to add or subtract, and write a corresponding number sentence. The students were very successful and next week we'll be learning about measuring.

We are now reading the last book called Saving Shiloh and I'm pretty sure we will enjoy it just as much as the first two. Each bead represents a detail that we need to include within our writing--it is a nice visual as well as a reminder! It comes with a nice little verse as well: "Green-group, blue-do, what does it look like, what is it made of, pink parts, white-where, what else do I know?". The students did a blog this week, choosing an object/sport/game/animal of their choice. Please check out their blogs and the details they included! Hope you enjoy!!
