Living/Non-living playground ecosystems

Article posted September 9, 2008 at 04:41 PM GMT0 • Reads 106

On Friday I saw a baby red spider, grass, black ants, wet soil, clover, roots, rocks, roots, and dead leaves. They are interdependent because if the soil wasn’t there wouldn’t be black ants and the ants rely on the dirt and soil. Because ants build their homes on it. The spiders rely on the ants so basically everything was interdependent on the dirt. And the non-living thing I saw was rocks some were medium sized and then most of the rocks were small and the other dead things that I small were dead leaves.

My Terrarium

Article posted September 16, 2008 at 04:47 PM GMT0 • Reads 191

Before we put water in the soil was already dry. It took us nine spoonfuls of water to get it to drip. There are ten bright green almost clover like sprouts from the mustard seeds. We have two sprouts form the Alfalfa seeds it has green at the bottom, brown spots at the middle towards the top, and then at the top there is brown in the middle of two green leaves. On the Rye seeds there are four sprouts on the side that you can barely see. The twig is about to shed. The leaf is brighter than it used to be and more of a crackly noise. The rock is still the same color gray and then it has sunken into the soil a little bit. The plants feel a little wet. The soil is now a little damp. It smells like spring after it has rained it also smells like soil. The leaf smells fresh. The stick has already shredded to the middle. The rock is almost a circle/triangle. It also has like a hill to it.

The Water part of my ecosystem

Article posted September 22, 2008 at 10:53 PM GMT0 • Reads 127

Our plants have gone wild they are HUGE! Our duckweed has little roots so it looks like little jellyfish. Our peacock fern has grown a little. Our snail has been under its shell and went down to the rocks from when he was eating at the top. The snail also has a brown shell that has a little cement shell in it. The fern has also like a line that goes down into the rocks. I think it has a lighter stem. The alga hasn’t formed green yet. So it is as clear as it was when it didn’t have algae in it.

Our peacock fern has a lighter stem / roots and lighter leaves and part of the leaves have gone apart. The snail has had a darker coat since last time. The guppies have HUGE not kidding like as big as your fingernail eyes seriously were do you find fish with that big of eyes and are like a pale yellow color! The water has like a yellow / auburn color. The rocks are still the same color except the rocks have a bunch o different colors. Anyway that’s all I have to tell right  now see you  on the journey TO MY ECOSYESTEM!

Predict The Future

Article posted October 10, 2008 at 07:00 PM GMT0 • Reads 78

I predict that when we put fertilizer init will grow like crazy like crazy in our terrarium. In my aquarium it will make my plant and duckweed will stop growing for a few days  and then grow like crazy. It will affect the fish and snails by it will not provide good and healthy food and stuff. It won’t really effect the crickets because they are already dead but if they were alive it would drive them crazy and they would get hyper and try to jump out. It will take about everything to do that for about 3 days and it will take about 4 days for everything to calm down and go to more normal. The plants will turn brown or yellow. The water will turn green. Also the soil will turn light brown.

In our ecosystem the crickets have died and the roly-poly ate their dead bodies so you can’t tell that they were there. The plant leaves and most of the terrain smells like springtime. On to the ecosystem one fish has died. Our mustard seeds are about two inches long! We have own snail and one fish. Our algae hasn’t changed very much it is like ugly yellowish green. Our duckweed has gone into arm groups. Our roly-poly loves our new big mustard seed plant and eats and hides on the leaves. Our leave and rock and stick are the same thing. Our alfalfa seeds never were really good at growing and they don’t spread very much. Our aquarium stinks big time it almost smells like poop and through up. It almost makes me through up. The snail’s tentacles are so small you can barely see them our leaf looks like leather the plants have grown and changed big time. Our snails name is shell face and its nickname is shelly.

My car

Article posted January 20, 2009 at 04:57 PM GMT0 • Reads 80

Some special features my groups car has might be… That we had one wheel in the back and two wheel in the front. My groups car was about five inches long in action but was only about three inches long and wasn’t very high. My group’s cars color was mostly the hot colors (red, yellow, and orange) But is had some cool colors too. My group’s car was like a stretch limo with no seats or top. My group included that because a girl in my group named Avery said that it might go faster if we put one wheel in the back and it worked it went way farther and faster. Putting only one wheel in the back and it went way farther and faster and that is all.

Persuasive Playground

You should pick our playground because it has safe equipment it also has your TOP 5 favorite simple machines. Our favorite thing is the hamster wheel and the merry-go-round because when a person runs in the hamster wheel it spins the merry-go-round in the hamster wheel there is 2 handles so you don’t fall onto the steel merry-go-round or the ground. The dumb weighter is used as you pull your self up to the top floor and then you can zip down the zip line to the sand box with the sand digger in it. The hamster wheel and the merry-go-round are a gear, the dumb weighter is a pulley, and the zip line is an inclined plane and if you fall you will bounce on the trampoline and that way you won’t get hurt. Also you can climb down a ladder to get to the hamster wheel if you don’t want to go down the zip line.
