The series retell the Adventure of Alice in Wonderland, with Alyss, Bibwit, Dodge, King Arch, Queen Genieve, Redd, who is an evil queen, and alot more characters. The books are filled with action, adventure, and Fantasy!

The series is by Frank Beddor, and there will be a movie for it coming soon.

Carry On Mr. Bowditch

Article posted November 7, 2008 at 12:03 AM GMT0 • Reads 69

The book, Carry On Mr. Bowditch, is a good book, though it has quite a slow start.

What shocks me is how the people in this survive with no T.V, and how the children have to work very hard.

I am also surprised how the people in this book don't complain about eating the same food over again, not wearing a coat when it is snowing, and having the bravery to keep secrets from their parents. Well, big ones.

I would not like to be in school in that time, brcause the teacher is very mean. He won't let Nat do big math problems just because he is younger.

I feel bad for Nat, his brothers and his sisters because their mom died from a sicknees, as well as their grandma. Life must be hard for Nat, since he wants to go to a good college, but he doesn't know how to get the money for it.

Leads

Article posted November 21, 2008 at 08:47 PM GMT0 • Reads 69

What is a lead? A lead is the beginning sentence,(or more than just one sentence), of a book that hooks the reader, making them want to read on. An example of a bad lead would be, "Hi! How was your day?" because it doesn't grab the reader, and it will make the person who is writing the story get writer's block.

An example of a good lead is by a professional author, J.k. Rowling. Her book, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, has a great lead.

"The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane." It makes me want to read on.

Also, ther are several different types of leads. A Question lead, that starts off with a question, an Action lead, that begins with a lot of action, a Picture lead, that puts a picture in your mind, a Quote lead, that starts with a quote, and a Diolage lead, that starts with a conversation.

I would have to say that Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows would definetly be a Picture lead.

So, make sure that next time you write a story, make it have a good lead!
