Finding Buck McHenry

Finding Buck McHenry

The movie

Jason Ross, a baseball player in an eleven-year-old league, wants to find a baseball legend… is it real or not? Read the book Finding Buck McHenry by Alfred Slote to find out. I personally thought the book was great, but the movie was horrible.

One reason I didn’t like the movie was that the characters looked WAY too old. In the book, it said that the league was an eleven year old baseball league. The kids in the movie looked thirteen, or even fourteen years old!

Another thing I didn’t like about the movie was that Buck McHenry was so dishonest. For example, he said “I am NOT Buck McHenry.” You couldn’t actually relate to or enjoy his character, because he was lying almost the whole time.

The last point I’d like to make is that the movie is completely different than the book. If you like the book Finding Buck McHenry, there’s a chance you won’t like the movie.

All in all, the movie was so-so. For a rating in stars, I would give it three out of five stars. I would not recommend this book to very many people, but if you like baseball, you might like this book.

In Carry on, Mr. Bowditch, Nat is working at Ropes and Hodges for 9 years. Nat wants to stay with his family, so he is sad about that. So far, this book has been pretty good. I was suprised when the book said he had to serve at Ropes and Hodges for 9 years. That is such a long time!

Greek Mythology and Me

Greek Mythology and Me

Hi! I’m Artemis. Nice to meet you. I am 10 years old and I LOVE Greek mythology. My favorite Greek god is Artemis, goddess of the hunt, goddess of youth and the moon goddess. That is why Artemis is my blog name. I also play soccer and love to dance. I also like to sing!

Here’s a little bit about Artemis and some other Greek gods. Apollo is the god of light/sun, and god of music and poetry. He is also the twin of Artemis! Their mother is Leto, one of the many women Hera (queen of the gods) who suffered from her wrath. Leto was cursed and not able to give birth on land, but she finally gave birth to twins: Artemis and Apollo. The twins’ dad is Zeus. He is god of the gods. He is also many of the other gods and goddess’ father.

I hope you enjoyed reading about Greek mythology and me!

Digging Potatoes

Artemis

One of my favorite leads is from the fourth Percy Jackson book, The Battle of the Labyrinth. This book is by Rick Riordan.

“The last thing I wanted to do on my summer break was blow up another school.” Is the lead. I think it is a thought lead, because it is Percy’s thought. I think it is a very good lead because you would probably think (like I did) “what does that mean? Did he blow up a school earlier?” It makes me want to read more.

Lord of the Rings

THE LORD OF THE RINGS

Over Thanksgiving break, I watched the Lord of The Rings trilogy. I think it is really good. My favorite character is Legolas, who is an elf and is a really good archer. He is played by Orlando Bloom. I WANT TO MEET HIM!!! (BADLY) The other main characters are Strider (Aragorn), Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry, Gandalf, and Gimli. Strider is a ranger from the east; Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry are hobbits; Gandalf is a wizard; Gimli is a dwarf.

My favorite movie out of the three is probably the third one, because it is the finale and ending. It makes you wish there was a fourth movie, but it also has a satisfactory ending.
