Christmas

Article posted December 1, 2008 at 09:01 PM GMT0 • Reads 112

To me, the holiday season means fun, presents, decorations, good food, Santa Claus, and music. My favorite Christmas song is “The Christmas Song”, a.k.a. “Chestnuts Roasting”. Also, my birthday is on December 5th, right near the start of the holiday season. Christmas is my absolute favorite day of the year. Winter break is my favorite few weeks, and December is my favorite month. In my family we have a special tradition for opening presents. The youngest person present (no pun intended) picks a present from under the tree that isn’t for them and gives it to who it’s for. That person opens it and picks another present that isn’t for them, and so on until all of the presents have been picked.

mid-winter break

Article posted February 23, 2009 at 08:58 PM GMT0 • Reads 156

During mid-winter break I went to Canada. I went there because I was playing in a Bon Spiel in Langley. Bon Spiel means good game in two languages. Bon means good in French, and Spiel means game in German. A Bon Spiel is a tournament in the game of curling. Curling is a game where you throw rocks at houses. You are on a big sheet of ice called a sheet, or the ice. They sprinkle water on the ice and that's called pebbling. It makes stones slide more easily. The stones are big and made of granite and they have colored handles on top. The colors determine who will throw the rocks and who will score from them. Throwing is sliding down the ice and sliding the rocks to the target at the other end.

Hi. I exist. Pie is tasty. Especially the chocolate cream variety. I like to think of myself as a claustrophobic, agoraphobic, sesquipedalian. If you know what those words mean, good for you. If you don't, I suggest you check a dictionary.
