About Me, Voldemort

Article posted October 27, 2008 at 08:55 PM GMT0 • Reads 40

Hi! you might be wondering why I would chose Voldemort as my blog name. Well, I don't know why. Maybe because I have every single event in all the Harry Potter books stuck in my head. Maybe because I have all seven books on tape and listen to them every night. But Harry Potter isn't the only books that I like. I also like the series of unfortunate events, Allie Finkle's rules for girls, and other stuff. I also love the movie Annie. Write more soon! Bye!!!!!

What I like in and out of school

Article posted October 28, 2008 at 06:58 AM GMT0 • Reads 36

You might have read what some of my favorites are. Now this is stuff I like about school and out of school. In school, I like math, writing, reading, and social studies. Out of school I like some after school things, like acting, dancing, and soccer. I also draw, and participate in groups. So besides that I am trying to read the whole library before school is over, but I don't think I will accomplish that. I also do choir.

How to find things

Article posted October 28, 2008 at 07:01 AM GMT0 • Reads 36

How to find out what your favorite animal is: 1. Find the cutest animal of them all.

2. Think of which animal you like best.

As simple as that. How many friends do you have? Are you happy with that number? No, then be nice and find more.

Nightmares

Article posted October 28, 2008 at 07:10 AM GMT0 • Reads 39

What is your favorite book? Think about it. Is it scary, sweet, sassy, or something else? Does it give you nightmares? One story our teacher told us was about when she was a kid. She would dissect toads and sew them back together. My nightmare was about me, some of my friends, some people I didn't know, and one of my other teachers. We were playing on the toads' stomachs like drums, and the toads would croak along with the song. One nightmare I had when I was four was that Abiyoyo was stealing a pear as big as my body from me. I also had one combining the books The Witches and Harry Potter by getting chased by witches and by Voldemort. So again, maybe that was why I chose the name Voldemort.

My favorites

Article posted October 29, 2008 at 07:05 AM GMT0 • Reads 35

A couple more things about me. My favorite colors are light blue and green. My favorite animals are chickens and pigs. My favorite non- musical movie is The Parent Trap.I have a brother who drives you crazy and two cousins. One of them is especially nice. She never hurts me or does any thing bad to me. My brother and cousins are all older than me. I have one cat named Squirt and I used to have on named Natasha but she died. One of my brothers died 13 years before I was born. Since it is close to Halloween I should tell you what I have been: Dorothy, Snow White, a chicken, and I think little Red Riding Hood. Besides everything else going on in my life, my family is remodeling our house, which means the first floor is only wood and screws now. We have a camping trailer and a "living room" trailer. I sleep on the second floor, wash dishes in the basement, go to the bathroom either on the 2nd floor or in the port-a-potty. We relax in the big trailer and eat and cook in the camping trailer. I also play piano and clarinet.

I have also been in two dance shows and will be in a third soon.  In Peter Pan, I was Mrs. Darling, a fairy, and the neverbird. In Alice in Wonderland, I am the dormouse.

What I learned is that the candidates for this election were separated by 138 votes(I think it was that #)in the last election. We also learned about the Presidential election.

I have been to many places. One place I went to was Mexico. I also went to Washington D.C., Yellowstone, Arizona, and California. In Mexico we went on a school trip. I went for four years. We had to go to school in Mexico and stay in hotels. It was really fun. When I went to D.C. We stayed in a hotel for one trip and in an apartment the second time. We went to a lot of museums. I also got to go to a flea market. When we went to Yellowstone we went with one of my brother's friends. We saw a lot of geysers. We camped out there. In Arizona we came there from California. We first stayed in a hotel and then we drove down to Arizona and stayed in a hotel there. In California we went to Disneyland for 3 days. It was really fun. We went to Arizona to see my great aunt and great uncle. I went on all of these trips with my family. I also camp out a lot and it is really fun.

I take dance lessons and yesterday I had a dance show with the rest of the people in the program. Me and my class danced to the theme song Ironside and my friend danced to a different song. My dad and 3 other people were working in the control room. My dad was doing the spotlight, except for when one of the 3 people had to go on stage. Then he did the lighting. Two other guys were working on the music. Everyone was in two shows. One at 2:00  and one at 6:00. Two of my teachers came. At the end of the first show I got to eat lunch in the control room. When I was done I got to mess with the spotlight. Some people were still in the auditorium and I shined the spotlights on their heads.

Alice in Wonderland

Article posted November 22, 2008 at 06:09 AM GMT0 • Reads 35

I was in Alice in Wonderland. Today we did the performance. I was the dormouse in the mad tea party scene. It was really fun because I had to snore really loud. At the end my tail fell off so I had to run back on stage and grab my tail. Performing Alice in Wonderland was really fun. But you kind of have a hole in your stomach because you have nothing to do on the days you had practice. I mean it feels weird. It was kind of like my tap show. You perform and then poof! The show is over. And it feels like that now. I don't have anything to do.

My accidents

Article posted December 31, 2008 at 10:05 PM GMT0 • Reads 35

I have gotten into a lot of accidents. Once when I was four I was going up my friend's bunk bed with something in my hand. I accidently fell off and I got the wind knocked out of me. I remember waking up wrapped in a blanket sobbing. Another time in second grade I fell down a flight of stairs. I remember seeing the stairs rolling. I skinned my elbow and my arm. Today I bumped my head twice on my bed in ten minutes. I also have almost killed myself. Me and my family went for a hike in the summer. I tripped and almost rolled off a hill. Pretty exciting. I think accidents run in the family. My mom has burned herself. My dad was on his bike and brusied half of his body. My brother has had several accidents too. Once he fell off his bike and hurt his knee. He slid into the catcher in baseball and almost tore his something or other. And he had an infected toe and an infected leg. (They had to opperate on  the leg.)

My soccer team

Article posted January 4, 2009 at 07:54 PM GMT0 • Reads 37

I was on a soccer team from Sept. to Nov. There were 9 people from my school (including me). Three girls from another school joined as well as one other girl. Two girls had this rival thing going on. I would sometimes be a part of it. One time, for instance, we were doing a drill for two people and so the other people built dirt sculptures. (We practiced on a dirt field.) And one girl crushed mine while I was doing the drill. So I crushed hers. Then she started to gather dirt for a dirt ball. I took the hint and ran to the bathrooms. She followed. I locked a door and stood on a toilet. She came in, looked at all the stalls. Then she threw the dirt ball up over the stall. It hit me in the face in case you are wondering. WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT HOME. We also had other things we did but I forgot. Our team didn't win a single game. But we did have fun. We also had injuries. One girl got hit in the face with the ball. IF ANYONE ON THE TEAM IS READING THIS  PLEASE COMMENT ON OTHER MOMENTS. I just remembered something else. We would have runs with our coach to see if we could win Ice Cream. One practice it was pouring down rain. So we sort of took cover after all the complaints.

Once we went bowling until 11 P.M. Her dad was taking me home. Lily saw someone and yelled "Hi person!" to them. So we played a game where if we saw anyone we would stick our head out the window and yell hi. It was very fun. Another friend actually had a twin sister. We had fun too. This summer I went on a picnic with their family. After we ate we buried one of the sisters. The hardest part was digging her out. The sisters are complete opposites. One is a tom boy ( according to someone in my class she is a boy, but she is not) and one is a girl type of girl( not a girly girl!) GOODBYE=http://=http://!

Indoor Camp Out

Article posted January 28, 2009 at 02:33 AM GMT0 • Reads 35

On Saturday I went to an indoor campout.  It was with my girl scout troup and a third grade troop. We made gorp( something like a trail mix), then we played a game and set up the tents. There were five people including me in our tent.  Then we had hot chocolate and did a couple of plays. After that we had to go to bed. We kind of talked alot before we went to bed. Soon it was six in the morning. I looked over and I couldn't see my friend. I waited to see if she would come back. When she didn't I said "Where's Lola?" and she sat up and shushed me. One third grader said I kicked her in the head when we were sleeping. Then we had breakfast, played a couple of games, and left. I have a challenge: If anyone can tell me what gorp stands for, I will write an article on the subject of your choice.

So I probably mentioned this before but there is a group I work with outside and we do 6th grade math. (Well, one person does 9th grade and one does 7th). So there is only one boy and he can get really annoying.  He also needs our help a lot. So we made a deal with him that if we helped him he would have to be quiet for 20 minutes.  He agreed. So when we were counting down from five it was so funny. One class had reading buddies and our teacher was out in the hall. And when we got to one he was like "YEAH!!" Our teacher said to him, "Is that you making all that noise?" It was so funny.

He has a mohawk.  My family also went sledding. One of my brother's friends crashed into a car. I wish it had been someone else. I also went to my grandma's house.

Okay, since I have nothing else to do I am going to be blogging about my stay in San Fran. First I had to get up at 3:30 on Sunday. It is not easy. Next we had to get to the airport by 5:00. We waited and got on the plane blah blah blah skipping forward. When we got to our apartment we are renting we unpacked and settled in.

Monday

Monday we went to go see family friends that lived in Oakland. My mom had once stayed with them for two months. Anyways to get to Oakland we had to take a trolley, walk, take the subway, take a bus, and walk again. It took about an hour. We chatted a little and my brother and his friend and the boy Fletcher went to play football. My brother's friend accidentally ripped my brother's pocket.  Me and the girl there who is fifteen played a card game with her friend.  Then we had dinner and went home. We got home at 10:45.

Okay, so today we went to Haight ( Hippie street). I went to this one girl store that was huge. I bought a pair of earrings and a scrunchie. Then we bought tickets to Alcatraz ( It was a really high security jail. It is on an island in the middle of the bay. The currents were so strong that you would die if you swam away.) You take a boat to get there. So now we are back home. Safe and sound( no joke I want to go to bed) I will write about Alcatraz later.

1. Some guy in an electric cart nearly hit a person(It was a cart you drive on the sidewalk) and then he said "beep beep"

2. We were sitting next to a guy on the bus. He saw a taxi that looked like a Hybrid. He opened a window and yelled "Hey bro, is your taxi a hybrid?" and then "Where your solar panels?"

3. My brother asked my mom" Who's funnier me or dad?" and my mom said "Funny looking?"

Today we went to Alcatraz the jail. We got to see the cells, the dining hall, the library, and where some of the escapes were attempted.

I got a book of all the rules and regulations. My mom wants to enforce rule 30. It states that you can smoke in your cell. I said,"So I can smoke in my room?" You have to be quiet in your cell and don't start a fire. I said,"So I shouldn't light my room on fire?"

It was really cool! Write more soon!

The joys of being a human punching bag (I'm so happy, that's why I am talking in a sarcastic tone. HINT, HINT)

Article posted March 19, 2009 at 05:14 AM GMT0 • Reads 42

I am a punching bag. Honestly, you think I haven't heard what's going to happen to me in middle school? I have heard it 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times. Okay, that might have been a little exaggeration (very litte). I don't complain when he comes to my stuff (I don't have to because my parents can't get him off the couch.) But he has always complained about everything I do. "Why does she have to come?"  Honestly, he is 14 and he complains like a 2 year old. A 2 YEAR OLD! He always insults me as if I wasn't alive. As if I was his imaginary punching bag he takes everything out on. WELL I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT I AM A HUMAN BEING=http://! DOES HE CARE? NO=http://=http://=http:// That is how I became a punching bag. It's like Harry Potter and Dudley, only times 100.

Architecture

Article posted March 20, 2009 at 09:20 PM GMT0 • Reads 38

We had an architecture project due on Monday. Me and my two friends did Casa Mila a.k.a La Pedrera a.k.a the Stone Quarry a.k.a. House of Mila.It is located in Barcelona, Spain. It took us about two and a half months to make it out of wire mesh, plaster, and paper. The building has two courtyards. Before people would get drunk and fall down and die. Now there is an ugly chain link fence. I have a picture of the building on the article. I hope it works. It was really fun to do.

She is in a more advanced class since she has been doing it since she was 3. I have done it since I was 8.  I have no idea how many tap shows she has been in but I have been in 3 tap shows including the whole studio and a couple for Festival Sundiata. The shows were Tribute to Earth, Wind, and Fire, Big Bands, and Tribute to Quincy Jones. The next one will be African American Odyssey. Go to Google NW Tap Connection to see the website or videos. I have two grandmas and one grandpa. The other grandpa died when I was four from cancer. My dad has a sister who has a daughter.. FACT: My dad said his first word when he was three. My mom also has a sister who has a daughter. Both of my parents are older than their sisters. FACT: My Grandparents on my mom's side married, divorced, married again, and then their two parents who weren't dead got married. I love love love my grandparents. Especially the ones on my mom's side. They are really nice. Once my grandparents watched us while my parents were in England. One night I went over to a friend's house. They invited me to sleep over. I said "I need to call my grandma first." One of the two sisters ( These are the two twins I have known since I was 2) said "I'll bet she will say no." I called my grandma and she said "Oh sure go ahead just call in the morning." And I told my friend "I told you she would say yes." My other grandma lives in Buffalo, New York. If you go there in the winter they have a huge sledding hill. It is AWESOME. Write more soon.

Okay, my brother is kind of nice. I say kind of because he doesn't always do the right thing. My grandma used to have a rabbit named bu bu bun buns. My brother kept kicking him. So the rabbit would go to the bathroom on his foot. Another time we went to D.C. and my brother and I were at  a food court and he left me at the condiments table. I started crying and a guard came and took me to my brother. Real caring huh?

Grandma's cats

Article posted March 30, 2009 at 07:46 PM GMT0 • Reads 35

My grandma loves, loves, loves animals. She lives with my grandpa in Shelton, WA. The house is surrounded by wildlife. Besides having bu bu bun buns the rabbit, she also had 10 cats at one point. Shegato came first. They adopted her from the pound and named her Shegato because she is a girl and gato means cat in Spanish. Next came Mama kitty. My grandma and my brother found her abandoned at a hotel when my grandparents were refinishing their stairs. The cat turned out to be pregnant and they took her in and got her fixed up. Next comes the exciting part. Mama kitty had kittens. That's how she got the name Mama kitty. Soon my grandparents had eight little blind kittens to take care of (Kitties are blind when they are first born.) Me and my family got to adopt two. I named mine Natasha and my brother named his Squirt ( after the soda company). My cousin took two and named them Mario and Coconut (Coco for short). Then my friend from preschool who is a year older than me adopted one and named her Suzy Midnight. His sister wanted to name her Midnight and he wanted to name her Suzy so they came up with Suzy Midnight. The other three boys are Big boy, Middle boy, and Little boy. My grandma named them. Big boy is the biggest and the bravest. Once he gets used to seeing you he will come out the day you arrive. Middle boy is the middle one and is very, very shy. Little boy ties with Middle boy on shyness, but his fur is fluffier and he is the smallest. What kind of pets do you have?

She is the oldest because everyone else is only four days old. B will fall asleep in anybody's hand. It is so cute. On Friday I went over to her house. After playing with the chickens we went outside, then played with the chickens, then played games, then played with the chickens. After that my parents were there so me and my two friends started climbing a bush/tree.(I forget what it was called). I actually got to the top which surprised me because I am not good at climbing.

Spring Break

Article posted April 6, 2009 at 12:41 AM GMT0 • Reads 62

Now, I have had some fun spring breaks. Once I got to go to Disney Land. This spring break was not that fun. First, I had to get a bite plate. It is like a retainer only it doesn't have metal. Then I had to go cabin camping in Bay View State Park. We went to a fifth grade camp near there. Don't get me wrong, I usually enjoy cabin camping. This trip wasn't so enjoyable. I had to share a bunk bed with my brother. That was one of the only bad things. The other two was that the cabin was tiny and there was nothing to do. We would have toast and cereal for breakfast. (You couldn't cook in the cabin but they had outlets outside.) For lunch we had cheese and crackers. Then we would eat out for dinner. We had Mexican, Pizza, and Asian. While we were there we also went on two walks/hikes. One was a beach walk and the other was a forest hike. Now, I am not a big fan of hikes, but I will go. The summer I was going into fifth grade our parents made us go on a 8 mile hike. 4 miles each way. The worst part was that it was a slope. You went up first. I was running down most of the way because 1. I wanted the hike to be over, and 2. I had to go to the bathroom. The good thing was that the hike we took was only 1 mile. We also went to a movie. We saw Slumdog Millionare. It is about a boy who grows up living a rural life and then goes on a game show. My parents also brought our computer so we could watch movies. My parents and my brother watched Sweeny Todd. I could not go to bed because I kept hearing screaming. We also watched Sleepless in Seattle. It was a pretty good movie. We went home on Friday. Then I went over to my friend's house to see her chickens. If you didn't read my other article their names are Sunshine, Penny, Pepper, Beatrice also known as B, and Charlotte.

We had an Easter egg hunt there and I won. But my mom said we had to be fair. Then we watched some baseball and went home.

The Mariners and Baseball

Article posted April 13, 2009 at 08:56 PM GMT0 • Reads 35

The only sport I really understand is baseball ( I also understand soccer). Last year the Mariners, Seattle's team, sucked. They lost 101 games and they still didn't get the 1st draft pick. I mean come on. The only reason they didn't was because the Nationals lost 102 games. What a bummer. Now they have Ken Griffey Jr. on their team. The last time they had him was in 2000. On of the best years for the Mariners was 2001, when they won 116 games. Me and my brother have a video tape about the Mariners that year. The Mariners are now the best team in the AL. That might change. Last year I went to a game and Ken Griffey Jr.  was playing. He hit a homer and every one started clapping. That is not what happens when A-Rod is here.  IF he ever hits a homer everyone boos him. That's because he left the Mariners in 2003 and went to the Rangers. Then he left the Rangers and went to the Yankees. All because of money.  Me and my brother were watching sports' center. A pitcher threw the ball and almost hit the batter. Then there was a fight. The pitcher wasn't ejected. I personally think that he should have been. GOODBYE=http://=http://=http://!!

what I am doing after school, and all the really good times at school.

Article posted May 20, 2009 at 02:20 AM GMT0 • Reads 84

Okay, so in case you don't know what happens to 5th graders at the end of the school year, you should know that I am graduating this year. This means that I have to go to Middle School. Nothing wrong with middle school, but I just am not that happy to go there. Half of my friends are going to a different school next year and I might not see them ever again. But since this is an end of year reflection, I might as well write about all the things I can remember about elementary school. I remember the first day of Kindergarten. I was walking to school with my parents and I was scared to death. Surprisingly enough Kindergarten went fine. We graduated and got diplomas from our teacher. Then we went to 1st grade. I can remember studying Australia and everyone wanted to study the Koala, because it was cute. My animal was the platypus. It was very fascinating. We graduated 1st grade and moved on to 2nd. This was one of my most interesting years of all. I fell down a flight of stairs. Very interesting. Also my 2 favorite teachers left. But one is coming to graduation. Third grade was easy too. So was fourth. And now, I will finally write about 5th grade. To start things off I continued clarinet. So, just FYI every year the 5th graders go some place for 3 days. This year we went to Camp Kirby. It was really fun. This summer me and my friend are going there for summer camp. We also did Roots of Empathy (Raices de Empatia) in our Spanish class. Roots of Empathy is learning about babies. But we also learned about being kind, sharing compassion and empathy, and our feelings. One session was about transitional objects. I liked that session a lot. Every week (in our case Thursday) a woman named Ashley would come and talk to us about the things we would discuss, such as babies, feelings, etc… Every 3 weeks our baby Rosie and her mom Gwen would come and we would see how Rosie grew. It was so much fun. Our class had a survival unit in reading. It was fun too. Last but not least we studied immigration and the migrant workers. Our job was to collect socks for the migrant workers. Our class collected 218 pairs of socks. My brother, who is an 8th grader at Hamilton International Middle School went with his class and gave the migrant workers the socks along with the money his class collected. Now since this thing is long enough I might as well write about what I am doing this summer. I have Summer Language Camp, Camp Sealth, an Earth, Wind, and Fire concert, Camp Kirby, Chicago (It is for tap), and my birthday. My next article will be about my past summer.

HTML

So in computer class we are working on HTML, which is kind of like computer code. It takes a long time just to create one sentence. So I want to show you what the differences of HTML and the actual Web page is. Here is all information put together.

Everything put together

I am putting everything I have learned so far together. First I will change the color to black.

Next I will change the font to... a different font.

And after that I will change the size of the font. Now things get tricky. I will change the angle of the paragraph..3.2.1.

Was I right or was I right! Now I will write I am a
bold,
crooked,
and underlined kind of person. Cool, huh.

Here is the finished product.

I AM FINALLY A 6th GRADER!!!

Article posted June 20, 2009 at 08:00 PM GMT0 • Reads 40

So on June 19th, 2009 my 5th grade class graduated. It was so much fun. First we had the awards ceremony for the whole school. There were awards for best attendance, patrol, mediation, etc... But then there were the P.E. things, like fastest mile, most push ups, etc... I got the longest sit and reach, which was 16.5 inches. But they spelled my last name wrong. Then came the exciting part. We got to find out who won the Seymour Kaplan Humanitarian Award. The SKHA, as I call it, is an award for being compassionate and helping others out as best you could. Also every year two 5th graders are chosen to receive the actual award, and everyone in K-4 grades are just nominated. This year I was nominated with Alex B, Simon D, and Emma P. It turned out that me and Simon won. The funny thing is that both of us have known each other since we were 1 or 2. We went to the same preschool.

Then we had lunch, etc.... And then after lunch was GRADUATION!!! Graduation started at 1:00, but both classes had to wait outside until everything was ready. My friend got me a plastic rooster named Rus the Rooster. Then we saw our old teachers and me and Jessica (my friend who gave me Rus) were crying with joy. It was AWESOME!!! After that everyone walked in while the graduation theme was playing, and I had to grab my tap shoes, and then everyone sat down. The principal welcomed everyone and said a few words, then a couple of people from the classes came up to speak, and then we had some entertainment. First were two cello players, who played 3 songs. Then it was me and my friend Sophie doing a tap routine to "Do I Do" by Stevie Wonder. After that a girl played the guitar, and another played the piano. Then we got the certificates and got to eat CAKE!!! Then there was an after graduation party, which I will write about later.
