Wet Weather lesson

Article posted May 31, 2010 at 04:05 AM GMT0 • Reads 38

Sometimes in PDHPE we have to deal with bad weather conditions and it is always a bit hard to plan a lesson under these conditions.

You could always continue in the Health Activities which can be ICT based or Textbook based. But of course you may want to stay with actually practical things, you can also search for new sports to be introduced into your school, get yourself motivated and having a class discussion on how well sport is organised in your school or what could be improved.

Mental Health

Article posted May 31, 2010 at 04:13 AM GMT0 • Reads 38

In our Health PDHPE lesson we watched a video concerning Mental Health and issue surrounding it. The WHO (World Health Organisation) made a clip talking about the problems with treatment and acceptenance of Mental Health problems in society.

The majority of Goverments funding and concern goes towards physical health not mental health which makes mental health an unspoken topic and so very hard to be treated and understood.

It was a very astounishing and surprising lesson.

Fighting Stigma

Article posted June 10, 2010 at 03:18 AM GMT0 • Reads 37

Depression often comes with the feeling of stigma. Stigma can actually decrease the process of healing and getting out of the depression. This needs to be fought due to the fact that no one should suffer in silence and shame. Stigma causes people to feel ashamed and guilty of their condition. To help people over come this is to offer them help, offer them to go and seek help, to be open and tolerant.

Trying to talk to people with depression is one way to get them to open up and get rid of the depression.

What is teen depression?

Causes

Symtomps

Treatment

Causes:

There are no single causes of depression. Often it is the mix of emotional issues, stress, issues at home or in the family life, stress in work/school or any other issue or problem putting prewsure on your mental health.

Having depression means that a mix of causes build up a big bulk of problems or let it seem like a big bulk of problems.

Symtomps:

Tiredness,sadness, modiness, anger,lonliness, guiltyness.

Treatment:

Speaking to a family member or close friend, seeking medical treatment like going to a doctor/therapist/sicologist, going out and meeting friends again.

You can also seek advice and information over a series of sources from internet to books, phonelines and counselors.

Drug Use

Article posted September 16, 2010 at 02:53 AM GMT0 • Reads 50

I think drugs can be helpful in a society when dosed and used right. There are certain drugs which can help the body to go through pain for example in operations or accidents involving injuries. But there are certain drugs, which used wrongly can lead to fatal accidents. With regulations in place the drug use can be much more regulate. The drug use has to be controlled so that there is no potential harm done to the human body.
