The main thing about corals is that they aren't rocks or plants .Polyps are smaller then a pea. Algae live with corals. Old skeletons help build a reef. But the big thing is corals are made of tiny animals called polyps. The burning thing about reefs is fishes and colors and shapes in reef. Reefs makes a good home for an eel. But the large thing about reefs is they make good hiding placesThe remarkable thing about coral reefs is fresh water from rivers can kill coral. Coral reef could be damaged. Coral and algae need water the right temperature.The grand thing about corals is boats break off chunks of reefs. Coral reefs are fragile. Harmful bacteria destroy a reef in weeks. But the most-valuable is if the coral can't eat algae the coral starves.

I disagree that Garrett Morgan wasted his time designing a traffic signal, there was no reason to have

traffic signals and it did not work. Garrett Morgan lived in Cleveland, Ohio. He saw a car hit a horse

and buggy. He saw it was not safe. He made plans for traffic signal. The lights told traffic when to go

and when to stop. It was safe for everyone. He could also stop the traffic.

   The Monroe family goes to see a movie called Dracula. Toby almost sat on the bunny in the movie theater. Then later they name it Bunnicula because they found it in a Dracula movie. They put it in a shoebox in the living-room just for the night.

Toby and Harold were talking about Treasure Island a book. Then Toby went to sleep.Then Harold ask Chester what is a parrot and told him. Then the book was to big that Harold through they would not fit in the chair and knock off Chester then Chester said were just wasting time. Then they sat on the chair and read the book of vampire and discuss stuff of vampires.Then they found white lettuce and carrots be hide Bunnicula cage. Then Bunnicula was out of his cage.Then they heard a click in the kitchen. They found a white zucchini in the kitchen.

  Toby is a boy and he is eight year old. Toby is the younger. Toby is nice and funny. He is the son of Mrs. and Mr. Monroe.Toby has a brother named Pete and he is ten year old. One part Toby was involved was when they named Bunnicula and Toby wanted to keep Bunnicula and Pete wanted to keep Bunnicula too but they decide to keep Bunnicula in the living room. Today we Skyped with a class in Brigantine, New Jersey. Their teacher had to leave. Then a five year old girl asked us questions. Then we told them about Nevada and asked questions at the end like what is your favorite food? They said it was sea food and fruit and other foods. One of the questions was if we were close to the Grand Canyon we said we were not. They said if we live in the desert we said yes.Then they asked us more questions. Then we said good-bye.

Animal Ark

Today it took us about 40 minutes to get to Animal Ark. When I went to Animal Ark I saw a white tiger with black strips. It was laying down when I saw it. The other animals we saw were some bobcats, canada lynx, an a arctic fox, red fox, coyotes and a raccoon. But I remember we saw a gray fox also. We talked about what caused it to come to animal ark and other stuff. But my favorite animal was the arctic fox. It was all white. It also had a bushy tail.

Air Pressure

Christian grabbed the soda can with tongs and put it in cold water and it crushed all by itself. This is what happens to the soda can. Its just sitting on the hot plate. Then it starts to boil inside the soda can and then the can gets full of steam then steam comes out. Then we put it upside down with the hole covered in the cold water. The air pressure outside of the can crushes it.

Mr. Crosby fold a paper thats call the tissue paper from a ditto master. Then Mr.Crosby puts the paper on fire on the top of the paper thats call the chimney. Then it floated in the air and fell down.

 My "High Hopes" for the world include hunger so we don't die. Clean water so we don't die from diseases that the water has. But my Highest Hope for the world is disasters because that destroys the world and makes things the worst.

 

 

 

 

 

 I live in Sparks, Nevada, and my "High Hopes" for school include to improve my grades, learn to read so I could be a good reader and to play a instrument like my brother. But my Highest Hope for school is graduate high school and go to college.

The Hot Air Balloon Story

I was sitting on top of the shelf in my box for two months. This factory just smashed me in this little tiny box. But one thing I really like about this box is that it was one of my favorite colors baby blue. After awhile I was felt uncomfortable, tight and lonely. Also it was all dark in the box. I have not seen light for a long time. I am kind of scared. All of a sudden I heard something. It was talking. It said,“Hey Fred we found the perfect balloon that will go up”. Then it grabbed the box I was in.

 

 

They opened the box. By that time I felt on I was happy could finally get some air I felt like I rescued the day of my life. Then I was about to go to sleep when i heard something coming.

 

They took me out, unfolded me and they put me on the black plastic thing on the ground. I saw they were getting really to launch me I was waiting about 15 minutes. But I was happy that I didn't have to stay in the box where I was. It was horrible inside, I was all smashed.

 

 

Then I decided to stretch. Just when I looked at myself I got scared because I didn't have time to look at myself. About an hour later I could tell that I was getting a little worried. Then all of a sudden a thing came up to me and put a little thing around me. By that time I wish I could be filled with helium and I was. I saw a lots of people and kids and news people. Some were taking pictures of me.

 

About 20 minutes later they were counting 3.. 2..1.. and they let me go up in the deep blue sky I was pretty sure I was going super fast like a rocket ship. I was getting higher and I felt amazing. Something weird, it started to get colder.

 

 

A few hours later I was shivering very hard and I was getting a lot fatter because I was getting higher. I thought it was going to get hot but it did not.

 

Then I was feeling sick and my tummy was hurting. I couldn't handle it and it hurt so bad that I had to burst.

 

 

I landed next to a rock. Then I heard a voice, Hey Fred I think we found the payloads and the balloon is hanging on the payload. Oh man it smells bad. Then Fred came and said it is the balloon that smells. Just throw it in the trash.

Highlights from this year

This summer I went  to California because I feel like going to my aunt's pool. Then I went to Universal Studios. Then I went  to Agnes Risley Elementary School. Then the class I got in Agnes Risley had laptops for every kid only in my class. In April we went to Animal Ark that's where they take care of wild animals that are hurt. Before we went to Animal Ark we went to a concert of the young peoples it was about a hour long.Then we learn about Air pressure and more. On May 27, 2010 we send a high altitude balloon. This was a fun year.

A Terrible Day At School

One day in first grade for recess. I ask my teacher if she needs help to pass things around the class. She said yes. So me and my friend were helping her. Then she told me to stay here with this kid in the classroom and she said if the bell rings don't open the door. So my friend went with her to help her. It was only three rooms away. Then the bell rings. But my teacher said to not open the door. But I did. I open the door so my classmates where inside. But they where to loud. So I try to keep them quit but I couldn't. So then my teacher comes and said who let you come inside they said Jocelyn. Everybody go outside. So from that day I was scared to help her pass things around. Then the next week my friend said do you want to see if she needs help. I said no because I was scared.   

 

Maniac Magee

  The main thing about Maniac Magee was that he lived across the river in Bridgeport. He was born in a ordinary house. Maniac Magee was only three years old when sadly his mother and father die in a train crash. Then Maniac Magee needed to live with his aunt and uncle. Maniac Magee ran way from aunt and uncle for a year when he was 11 years old. Days of running he has dirty, smelly, ripped clothes and a flap-soled shoe. He meets a girl named Amanda Beale he thought she was running alway because she had a suitcase but she kept her books in the suitcase.Then he ask Amanda if he could borrow a book she said yes. But the interesting thing about Maniac Magee is that he ate with the pickwells.

I was so joyful because I was going to get a puppy! I couldn’t wait to get a puppy! I been waiting for this to happen! It’s happening! Then I kept asking my dad! That’s how much fun I was having. I ask my dad when we where going to get the puppy. He said pretty soon. A day I don’t work. He said.Then my brother ask my dad that he wanted a puppy too. My dad said yes.Then I said it has to be a boy.But my brother didn’t replied. Then me and my brother were having so much joyous we jump up and down like crazy wild dogs. I ask my dad that if the place where the dogs where was it far away. He said no.

Then the next day we were going to pick up the puppies. We got the puppies. Then I named my puppy Kayla. My brother named his puppy Kevin. The reason this is important is because I was the only girl in my house and because I didn’t know with who to play with. Now I play with my dog and I am not just the only girl in my house.

When Homework Was Hard

When I was about six years old I went to school. I always wanted to go to school when I was four. But when I was six and I went to first grade. I liked first grade, well I did kind of, but not all the time. Sometimes in math I did not get math. Then came homework. Homework was, well hard and easy most of the time. I remember if you did not finish your homework you needed to come in at recess and finish it. Sometimes I did homework by myself because I would understand it. But sometimes I did not get how to do my homework. I asked my mom if she knew how to do it. She said no. So she asked my brother to help me and he helped me. When I went to school I would return my homework. I would get in trouble from my teacher because she would notice something strange with my hand writing. She would call me during class and tell me. She would ask. Did someone help you with your homework. I said yep. Okay she said. Did you write this. Nope. Okay then who wrote this? My brother. Okay he can help you, but you need to do it okay? Okay. Sorry. That’s okay. She said. So I learned from my mistakes since that day. That really didn’t happen a lot. But it did sometimes. One time I did not have time to do my homework because I would go to places with my dad and brothers and my mom. We would go to Tahoe because my dad would work for people and the work would be there. The next day I would go to school and my teacher would say wheres is your homework. I would say I will bring it to you tomorrow. I tell my mom that I didn’t do my homework? I went to a place with my dad and my brothers and my mom. The next day I go to school. My mom comes to school. She talks to my teacher. That day I wanted to go to recess. So that’s why my mom went to talk to the teacher. My mom said I would be going outside for recess. But when it was recess time. I did not go outside because I didn’t turn in my homework.I try to do my homework before the next day came for school.

   The Montgolfier brother were born in Annonay, France. The Montgolfier brothers were the first practical balloon inventors. The first show flight of a hot air balloon was on June 4, 1783 in France. The Montgolfier brothers made a huge paper-lined silk balloon and showed it in a marketplace in Annonay, France on the same day. The balloon was called a Montgolfier. The balloon could lift 6,562 feet into the wind. September 19, 1783, in Versailles, a Montgolfier hot air balloon was bringing a rooster, a sheep, and a duck that flew for 8 minutes in front of Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette. October 1783, the 15 Marquis d'Arlandes and Pilatre Rozier were the first human travelers on the Montgolfier balloon.

I live in Sparks, Nevada, and my High Hopes for my school is that I pass the CRT and to have more homework, that kids could stop being annoying and learn and me to get better grades. My High Hopes for my community is that people to stop litter and that we don’t have gangs, people have more jobs, people to stop graffiti in public , have less crime and people could be safe and happy. My High Hopes for the world is that we always have food that doesn’t have disease and clean water, and make the world greener, help countries that need our help and to be safe where ever you are.

Balloon Chip Bag Experiment!

Description : We are going to attach a small party balloon that is green that is about ¼ of air in it. We are attaching a baby blue balloon that is half way blown up. A other balloon that is orange and it's about full. We are attaching a chip of bag that is small. They all are attack to a payload. Next, we will send the payload up over 100,000 feet on a high altitude balloon.



Hypothesis:



Green Balloon – I think that the green balloon is not going to burst because last year we put a balloon that was not that full of air and it never burst. But I do think air is going to go in the balloon.



Blue Balloon - I think the blue balloon is not going to burst because it is not full of air. I think that because last year we had a balloon that didn't have that much air in it and it didn't burst . But I think some of the air is going to go in the balloon.



Orange Balloon – I think the orange balloon is going to burst because it is almost full of air and if more air goes in the balloon it might burst.



Bag Of Chip – I think the bag of chip is going to burst. Why I think that is because it has weight in it.

Balloon Experiment Result

RESULTS – When the green balloon went up to space the more it got higher the more it expanded. But it did NOT burst. It was close to bursting. When it came down it shrink back to it's own size it was.

 

Blue Balloon - I think the blue balloon is not going to burst because it is not full of air. I think that because last year we had a balloon that didn't have that much air in it and didn't burst . But I think some of the air is going to go in the balloon.

 

RESULTS – The blue balloon DID burst. In the air over 80,000 feet. Why we know that is because we have pictures of the blue balloon. When it came back to us there was only a little nub of the blue balloon stuck on the tape.

 

 

Orange Balloon – I think the orange balloon is going to burst because it is almost full of air and if more air goes in the balloon it might burst.

RESULTS – The orange balloon DID burst. It did burst early because it was almost full of air. Some pictures you could see the balloon all ready bursted and it wasn't in space!

 

 

Bag Of Chip – I think the bag of chip is going to burst. Why I think that is because it has weight in it.

RESULTS - The chip bag did NOT pop. There was a little tiny whole in the bag so when it got a lot of air in it and it couldn't get any more air in the chip bag the air got out from the little tiny whole.  

 

 

 

Trip To California

We were pack to go to California. While we were in the truck, I was getting bored. I decided to play a Mario and Luigi game I had. When I was playing my nintendo Dsi, Mario and Luigi came out of my screen like pandas!!!



Later they where watching a movie. Dinosaurs where coming out of the screen, it was so loud like thunder ! Out of no where my mommy and daddy turn into dinosaurs!



Then we went to the gas station and Mario and Luigi got flaming hot Cheetos. Next thing you know, there having a argument. They settle down. I ask my mommy “how many hours more do we have to get to my aunt's house“ ? She said “ like about four more hours”. I said “oh”.



Finally we got to my aunt's house! I saw my grandma and my four cousins and my aunt and uncle it was like a jungle we where all squish in the ginger bread house! Later we went to the pool and my cousin look like she had a elephant trunk! When I got out of the pool I was walking like a penguin. I went inside and watched T.V !

When I Made Cookies !

One cold winter afternoon my Mom had news! She asked me if I wanted to make chocolate chip cookies. “Of course mother I would love to,” I said ! I rushed into the kitchen got the cookies dug out of the refrigerator. Then I reached up high in the cabinet to get a special plate for the cookies. The special plate was so shiny that you could see your reflection. My Mom and I were scrubbing our hands with soap one at a time. It was snowing outside. My Mom and I were making the cookies as round as potatoes. But the cookies were flatter than potatoes. Finally we finished baking the chocolate chip cookies. When my Mom open the oven the light was as bright as the sun and my eyes started to hurt. A few minutes later I could imagine the chocolate melting in the cookies. Then my Mom got the cookies out of the oven with two gloves. Next thing you know I got a cup of milk and chocolate chip cookies.

Suddenly I felt Jocelyn’s enormous freezing hand. She threw me on the frozen table. I realized I was going to get hypothermia. Let me tell you somethings about myself. My eyes are white. My skin color is dark blue. I think that’s amazing. I don’t like it when Jocelyn has to use the sharper to give me a haircut it’s just unacceptable. I hate it because it tickles. My favorite letter is J because it’s fun writing it. It’s like riding a roller coater. I hate it when she has to use my eraser. Jocelyn thinks it’s safe inside her backpack but it’s a mess it’s like living with monsters. There’s only one thing I like about Jocelyn. That one thing is that she says i’m fresher than febreze. I believe it.
