Hello, my group is reading a very interesting book. It is called The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen. The main character's name is Hannah. She is kind of brave, very annoying, and unselfish because she cares a lot about her uncle who is getting married and she doesn't want him to. I do not think that she is the hero of the story yet because the story has not reached the climax, but she might.

Any actor that is a girl could play the part of Hannah but she has to have a strong personality. Thanks for reading, can't wait for the next! :D

Assignment #2! In this book we have found out that there are also two characters that are in the story with Hannah. Also known as Chaya in Yiddish language. They is one Uncle Shmuel. Also, her guardian right now, since her parents passed away, Gitl. They are very protected over Hannah. They want the absolute best for Hannah. They tell Chaya or Hannah about her past and her mom and dad. They reflect on her a lot. I am sure they would be with us the whole journey to this book. Come back to see the updates!

So far in the book me(Alan), Quincy, and Chad are in page near 121. Lots have happened with Hannah or Chaya her Hebrew name. Right now she is in a boxcar while she got taken of the shower by a man. He is very mysterious. After reading some of my classmates' blogs, three things that the main character has in common is that they're in the Holocaust. Another is they are going through really hard times right now during that time period. Lastly, many of the characters are Jews. I think no other book is the same to Devil's Arithmetic because she goes back in time and no other book does. Some other great books that I would like to read that are interesting by blogs is "Stones In Water" because it seems like Roberto is going through a hard time with the climate change. Stay tuned to see what happens to Chaya or Hannah in Devil's Arithmetic!! :D

Howdy! It's Alan with assignment number 7!



The author in this book, Jane Yolen, keeps me involved in the story by giving great details of Chaya/ Hannah's life and the action that is going on. It makes me want to know more of what's going to happen in the book and what's coming her way.



The technique that I use in helping visualize what's happening is by the action that I take where thinking it's like a movie. It is very effective. Sometimes I think about it and re-read to see more deatails.



This is my last blog, :( and only 8 days of school left. Whoa!

My prediction for what's going to happen to Hannah is that she might have to go back in her time and time is running out, and everyone might have to depend on her! That's my prediction and last blog!! :D See you guys later.
