My Favorite Place To Read

Article posted September 10, 2010 at 09:34 PM GMT0 • Reads 61

There is a spot in front of the development where I live. A rock sits there and says Country Ridge. That is my favorite spot to read. The rock is taller than me times two! I like to climb up on the top with my favorite book and just read. I love to read up there because it is so peaceful and I can concentrate very well with no interruptions. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without the rock.

Like None Other

If I could only read one book for the rest of my life I would pick the book that started reading last year that is called Marked. Marked is the first book in its series. There are eight books in the series. I’m on the Third book in the series.

The book is about a girl named Zoey who gets marked by a vampire and starts going to the House of Night. The House of Night is a school where teenage vampires have to go. They are going to The House of Night learning how to become an adult vampire. She runs into trouble when the most popular girl in school named Aphrodite gets in her way! Zoey ends up conquering Aphrodite and takes her place.

I love this book because it’s full of teenage drama that always has a surprising twist to the story. My whole life I’ve always loved romance, drama, and vampires and this book has it all! When I first started reading it I thought it was kind of boring but I’m still reading the series. Marked is the very best book I have read in my entire life.

My Book Vacation

Article posted January 7, 2011 at 03:46 PM GMT0 • Reads 44

I would like to take a vacation in a whole bunch of places. Like Spain, Florida, Hawaii, or China. But if I could go anywhere I would choose to vacation in a book. I would pick the settings of The Old Willis Place, the new Alice and Wonderland, and Princess in Pink.

The Old Willis Place is about a brother and sister, Diana and Georgie, who are dead but they don’t know it. Their parents died but they think that they just left. So Diana and Georgie were left in the care of the owner. Diana and Georgie were left to live on their own outside because the owner died. Diana and Georgie were never allowed in the actual house where the owner lived. They keep trying to investigate the murder of the owner though. No one lives in the Old Willis Place because it’s quite a scary place. Whenever people do live there Diana and Georgie scare them off.

I would like to vacation there because I like scary things like that. I would also like to try to uncover any secrets about it too. I would like to go into the Old Willis Place and see what scary things are haunting it, if there is anything haunting it.

The second book I would choose is Alice in Wonderland. The book is about a girl who falls into a rabbit hole and dreams the whole thing. All of it is her wonderful imagination while she is asleep. When she is all the way down the hole she unlocks a door with a key she had found. She finds all these beautiful things, exquisite animals, amazing plants, and finally the Mad Hatter's tea party.

I would vacation there because it would be amazing to meet everyone there. I would love to see the Mad Hatter’s tea party and explore the forest. Overall Alice in wonderland would be a great place to go.

The last book I chose is Princess in Pink. It is about a girl named Mia and her birthday and senior prom are coming up. Mia is not a senior but her boyfriend is. Its three weeks away from the prom and her boyfriend still won’t ask her. At her birthday she finds out he doesn’t want to even go. Mia is devastated but eventually got through it. She got to go to prom but it was cancelled, but her grandma saved it.

I would choose to vacation there because the book takes place in New York City, and I have always wanted to visit there. New York is closer than a lot of places i would like to go so I would love to go there. I think Mia is very lucky to live in New York.

My Heroic Characters

Article posted January 9, 2011 at 11:26 PM GMT0 • Reads 66

I have three favorite heroic characters. One is Zoey Redbird. Zoey is from the House of Night series. The particular book is called “Marked”. Here is why I like Zoey and think she is heroic.

Zoey is very heroic because she overcame a fear and won. In this exciting book Zoey’s enemy, Aphrodite, led a group at the school called the Dark Daughters. Aphrodite was casting a circle for a Dark Daughters ceremony and tried to do something bad. She tried to call horrible spirits to the circle. Thankfully Zoey was there to stop Aphrodite and save the boy she loved from getting seriously hurt or injured.

Another one of my favorite heroic characters is Paul Fisher. Paul Fisher is from the book Tangerine. Paul is a twelve year old boy that moved to Tangerine, Florida. Paul loves to play soccer but is partially blind.

Paul is heroic in a special way. He didn’t save anyone’s life but is heroic because of his disability. He was blinded when he was younger but can’t remember why. He loves to play soccer but his father wants him to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Eric. Paul only loves soccer he doesn’t want to play football. But he overcame his disability and found out why he is blind and got to play soccer without anyone in the way.

My third favorite heroic character is, Nim. Nim is from the book Nim’s Island. Nim is an eleven year old girl that lives on an island with her dad. Her mom died when she was younger so she only lives with her dad.

Nim is heroic because when her dad leaves the island on a trip without her she is left on the island by herself. Nim’s dad promises to be back in three days but isn’t. Nim gets very worried and fights through it. Nim saves their island from invaders and doesn’t show fear until the end. At the end she does break out into sadness but her dad finally returns. This is a truly touching story.

The Most Evil Characters

Article posted February 2, 2011 at 12:26 AM GMT0 • Reads 90

I have read about a lot of evil character. My first one would have to be Aphrodite. Aphrodite is from the House of Night series. The particular book I have chosen is Marked.

Aphrodite is evil because she is a typical mean girl teenager with powers behind her. Aphrodite has power of being the most popular girl in school and actual magical powers. She didn’t quite know who she was and used her power badly but always got away with it. That is why I think Aphrodite is evil.

Another character I think is evil is the White Witch. The White Witch is from The Chronicles of Narnia. There are many Narnia books but I have chosen the first one.

Some reasons why the White Witch is evil are because she tries to destroy everyone in Narnia. The White Witch was unfortunately the queen of Narnia. No one wanted her to be but they couldn’t help it. She took advantage of her power and got herself into a war with the good side of Narnia. Greatly the good people won and the White Witch was defeated.

The last character that I think is evil is Erick. Erick is from the book Tangerine. Tangerine is a brilliant book about a boy named Paul that is on a soccer team but cannot see without special glasses.

The reason I have picked Erick as one of the most evil characters is because he is horrible to his own brother. When Paul was younger Erick was responsible for Erick going partially blind. Erick had sprayed spray paint into Paul’s eyes and permanently damaged Paul’s eyes. Paul never remembered and Erick never told anyone so everyone had thought it was just an accident. Until the end, however, Paul remembered and Erick got what he deserved. That is why I think Aphrodite, The White Witch, and Erick are the most evil characters I have read about.
