What is your favorite place to read?

Article posted September 13, 2010 at 09:30 PM GMT0 • Reads 62

My room is my favorite place to read because nowhere else is as quite as my room. Another reason why I like to read in my room is because I can’t concentrate in noisy places. My room is very colorful. My room is blue, green, and purple. My room has 2 bookshelves, one small and one large, full of novels. I like to read on my green, soft chair. I also have a green foot rest to go with it. I sometimes fall asleep read my books. I like read outside, at the Hiawatha Library and in my camper by myself, but still none of them are like my room.

I would have to pick Down the Rabbit Hole out of all the books if I could only read one for the rest of my life. This book is a mystery and all that I am looking for in a book. Down the Rabbit Hole is about a girl who gets lost in her home town and ends up in a small town called Flats. When she finally stops running she finds her self in front of an old ladies house. Then she noticed that it is Katherine Kovac’s house, but all the kids call her Crack-Up Katie. Then when Katherine notices her, she invites her in and ends up leaving her red puma cleats there. Then a few days later she finds out in the newspaper that Katherine has been murdered. Now Ingrid is trying to solve the murder by her self while doing the Alice in Wonderland play

The reason I like this book is because I enjoy reading mysteries and drama and this has a little bit of both in it. Another reason I would read this book for the rest of my life is because it’s bigger than most books I’ve read so far. Also it will take me longer than my other books even though I will read it all over again. In conclusion, it is all I like in books. I just hope I won’t get tired of it really fast.

Vacation

Article posted January 15, 2011 at 06:12 PM GMT0 • Reads 69

There are so many astonishing books out there that would be fun to vacation in but if I had to pick 3 my third favorite would be “What Happened to Goodbye.” This book is about a girl named Mclean. She has to adjust to a new school, a new town, and a new life. Ever since her parents' bitter divorce, Mclean and her father have been fleeing their unhappy past. And Mclean's become a pro at reinventing herself with each move. But in Lakeview, Mclean finds herself putting down roots and making friends---in part, thanks to Dave, the most real person Mclean’s ever met. Dave just may be falling in love with her, but does he know the real her?

These are the top three reasons I enjoy reading this book. The first reason I like this book so much is because it sort of relates to me. Another reason I like this book is because Sarah Dessen’s books are always touching and is always easy to relate to the characters. Finally, my favorite reason for liking this book, is because Mclean isn’t sure who she is and that’s a big part of growing up.

My second favorite book would have to be “Along with the Ride.” This book is about a girl named Auden who decides to spend the summer before college with her father and stepmother in a small beach town, she finds herself freed to encounter a new world of friendship with other girls, as well as an unanticipated romance with Eli, a rising star on the BMX circuit and a fellow insomniac, who joins her in exploring the late night world of the small town. As Auden struggles to turn from the path her mother has set for her and Eli tries to come to terms with the death of a friend for which he holds himself responsible, the two break out of their mutual self-imposed isolation and find one another.

The first reason I like this book is because I can relate to this book half way. The second reason is that I also enjoy a book with romance but also with a hint of humor. Another reason is because I could actually make out the scene and plot in the story..There is a lot more reasons why I like this book but one other reason is because the writing was spot on, incredible detailed and relatable.

And my favorite book out of all the books if reed, “What my Girlfriend doesn’t Know.” This book is about a guy named Robin who has never coped with anyone until the girl of his dreams finally falls for him. People started making fun of Robin and Sophie, his new girlfriend, using their last names (Murphy and Stein) as pessimistic sayings. But then Sophie’s old friends started ignoring the fact that their hanging out with Robin and everyone else also started being friends with both of them again, aside from Sophie’s ex-boyfriend.

There are many reasons why I like this book. First off, it is full of art and creativity. Secondly, I enjoyed the book and would like to know what it would be like to be in that situation, since I’ve never been in that sort of situation. The last reason is because I have always been fascinated in the humorous, but touching books.

Those are the three most fascinating books to me. Also the reasons why I like them and what they're about.

Hades Myth

Article posted April 21, 2011 at 03:40 PM GMT0 • Reads 113

Once upon a time, there was a Greek god named Hades’ who had a dark, dull personality. When Cronos’s three sons divided up the world, Zeus took the sky, Poseidon toke the seas, and Hades toke he underworld. Zeus became the king of the gods. Poseidon married happily. Hades was content, living in the underworld.

When King Sisyphus came by the underworld, he noticed that Hades looked depressed. Then Sisyphus came in to check on Hades, but Hades thought he was an unwanted intruder. Then he used the fork that had two prongs and was powerful enough to shatter anything or anyone he didn’t like. But it was only after it hit Sisyphus that he realized it was him.

Hades had gone to Zeus and Poseidon for help, but neither had known where to go to for help. So he went to Aphrodite, the god of love and beauty. Aphrodite had said to go to Haley, the one person who could bring the dead back to life. Hades had wondered for hours trying to find her, but finally he found her resting on a rock pile. He had explained what happened and Haley had gotten to work right away.

Hades had waited and waited for Sisyphus to return, but it had taking all night and all morning the next day. Finally, King Sisyphus had regained his strength and Haley had told him not to get mad and told him what had happened. Though he wasn’t mad, he was enraged about how Hades had made such a stupid mistake. Sisyphus had snuck out, to get revenge, when Haley went to help another patient.

When Sisyphus reached the underworld, he had seen the Cerberus looking straight at him. He had walked straight up to it and cut all three of its heads off, but Hades had heard a moan, so he ran out of the underworld to see what it was and there lays his Cerberus. Then he had known who it was, King Sisyphus. He had gone to Haley to see where he was, but she hadn’t even noticed that he was gone. Hades had searched and searched, but as soon as he got tired, he went to the underworld.

After he got to the underworld, there stood King Sisyphus. He was eating something, but Hades couldn’t tell what. Then Hades looked over and one of his Cerberus’ legs was cut off and that was all he could handle, so he ran inside the underworld, past Sisyphus, and grabs his helmet of invisibility and his fork, again. Though Hades had very good aim, Sisyphus had come prepared, he took out his sword. Then he pointed it straight at Hades, but the only problem was that Hades had put his helmet of invisibility on as soon as Sisyphus had pulled out his sword. After the bloody, gruesome fight, Hades had won, even though King Sisyphus had knocked his helmet off some how.

Though Hades had a broken leg and an arm that got cut off, he still walked to Haley. As soon as he got there she was helping a patient, but he couldn’t quite tell who. Then it came to him, it was Sisyphus. He was even more enraged then Sisyphus had been before, he was tired, angry, and most of all, in tremendous pain. Though he was angry, he sat down and waited for Haley. After she was done she with both of them, Hades toke out Sisyphus's sword, that he took from Sisyphus after he won, and stabbed Haley and Sisyphus to there death.
