In the country there is a place called Westby Montana. It is not very big. It is a nice little town. The school there is pretty cool. On the last day of school we get to eat outside unless it rains or, it is too cold.

What I Saw On Halloween Night

Article posted October 29, 2010 at 10:27 PM GMT0 • Reads 411

Chapter 1

It was dark, Sally just left to go to go to our neighborhood to go trick - or - treating. She left at 10:36 p.m. and walked to Fred’s house. Fred and Sally always go trick- or- treating together. She walked to the door and rang the doorbell. Fred’s mom opened the door. “Why you must be Sally”, she said. “Did you come to go trick- or- treating with Fred?” Sally nodded her head yes. “I’m sorry he’s sick. He can’t go trick- or- treating with you, sorry”, she said to Sally. ”Oh, okay sorry to bother you”, said Sally. Fred’s mother closed the door. “Poor Fred”, said Sally.

She turned away and walked to Elizabeth’s house. She rang the doorbell. “Trick-or-treat”, she said. “Why hi there”, said Elizabeth when she opened the door, “How are you?” “Fine”, said Sally. “That’s good. Well would you like a caramel apple? Elizabeth asked. “Okay’’, said Sally. Elizabeth gave her a blue one. Sally took a big bite because it was the best looking apple she had ever seen! She loved it so much that she ate the whole thing!

Chapter 2

All of a sudden Sally dropped onto the floor! Elizabeth laughed an evil laugh and carried Sally inside, and shut the door.

I screamed! I had followed Sally for fun, and when I saw Sally drop to the floor I got terrified!

I crept slowly to the closest window of Elizabeth’s house and looked inside. I gasped, too terrified to run when I saw Elizabeth. It was hard to believe but I saw it, Elizabeth was a vampire! I ran home and when I got there I told mom what I saw. But mom didn’t believe me!

Chapter 3

“Vampires don’t exist”, said mother. “Even if they did exist, Elizabeth would not be one of them!" “But mom you have to believe me!” I said. She still didn’t believe me. I ran upstairs and looked out my window and I saw a grave! I could just make out the words, it said F-R-E-D, Fred! Oh No! To Be Continued!

Gobble, gobble HELP!

Article posted November 18, 2010 at 11:24 PM GMT0 • Reads 445

There once lived a turkey named Arabella. She was smart and brave, wise and intelligent. She always hunted rats to feed her family and protected them from snakes, but she didn’t know that her hardest challenge was yet to come.

One day while Arabella was hunting in South Asia she saw turkey feathers scattered everywhere and smelled hunters! Arabella was suddenly alarmed and went to warn her family.

When she got home she asked, “Shan, Eliza, John, Emily, and Amy are you alright?” They nodded but looked sad. “Why are you so glum?” asked Arabella. Suddenly she realized John was gone! “Where is John?” she asked. ”Where is my great grandfather?” No one answered. Then she heard Emily say, “Gone hunting.” Arabella could tell she was sad. I better tell them about the turkey feathers, Arabella thought. So she did.

“I found turkey feathers scattered and I could smell hunters. That’s why I came here, to warn you.” Every one looked up, even Baby Amy. Their eyes were filled with tears, Baby Amy cried. “What’s the matter now?” asked Arabella. “It’s time you learned what happens at this time of year”, said her great Aunt Emily.

“Many years ago when the earth was new they say that people, known as the great Pilgrims came here to America. They celebrated by having a feast. They called it Thanksgiving. It now happens every year, and the thing for the main course is turkey! Your great grandfather John will be a meal! John is gone!” Then Emily started crying. Arabella couldn’t believe what she just heard! Somehow she would have to protect her family from this thing called Thanksgiving!

The very next day was the worst yet! Shan was missing and the entire hollow smelled of hunting dogs! “It is all my fault!” said Eliza. I should have made Shan sleep in his hidden room like us. Then this wouldn't have happened!”

Arabella was shocked enough to learn the truth about John, but now her brother! She had to do something about this! “Don’t worry I’ll make sure nothing happens to you. Just stay hidden, especially if you hear strange noises," said Arabella. The turkeys nodded their heads in agreement. “Yes Arabella we will stay hidden, we promise”, said Emily, Eliza, and Baby Amy.

So they did stay hidden for the rest of Thanksgiving. Arabella protected the rest of her family from dogs and hunters and snakes. She hunted for them and she cared for them. They did this every Thanksgiving and lived long happy lives. THE END

What I Saw on Halloween Night Part-2

Article posted November 22, 2010 at 12:32 AM GMT0 • Reads 252

Last time- I looked out the window and I saw a grave I could just make out the words. It said F-R-E-d. Fred! Oh no!

Sally's best friend, but what happened to Sally? I wondered now alarmed. "I'm going to find out", I said.

I looked around to make sure no one was around, then I crept out the door and into Elizabeth's yard. I crept slowly toward her window and looked through it. I saw a cage, I looked closer at it and saw Sally in that cage!

"Sally!" I shouted. Sally didn't move. I opened the door and went to the cage. I found the key just out of Sally's reach. I grabbed it and unlocked the cage door. Sally lifted her head. "Arabella! How did you find me?" Sally asked. "Never mind that," I said. "Let's get out of here!" Sally got up and ran to the door with me. "Not so fast!" Uh oh, that was Elizabeth! We stopped in our tracks. How could we escape? Elizabeth started walking toward us. What do we do now? "Help!" We screamed. "Help! Help! Help!"

Then I felt in my pocket for the garlic I had for supper (I don't like to eat garlic). I broke it in half and gave half to Sally. She was surprised, but held it. "Garlic?" Asked Sally. The vampire was, all of a sudden, scared. She started to back away. We took a few steps forward. The vampire screamed a horrible scream and said, "I'll be back, and don't you forget it!" She started to transform into a bat. We squeezed the garlic tight, and closed our eyes. A moment later, we openned them again. She was gone! She disappeared! We ran out of the house. I showed Sally where Fred's grave was, but it was gone too! I bit my lip to stop me from screaming. "Wh...Why don't you come over to my house and have some tea and brownies?" Asked Arabella. So we went over to my house and had tea and brownies with our families. We haven't seen the vampire since, but we are still very scared because...

On Halloween night, we hear her evil laugh and see her black cat. She still lives, you know, seeking revenge.

THE END

Shaine the Fairy

Article posted January 10, 2011 at 01:32 AM GMT0 • Reads 208

There was a fairy named Shaine. Shaine lived in a beautiful forest. One day Shaine went sleep-flying. (It is like sleep-walking, only you are flying in your sleep.) She had a very bad habit of sleep-flying. So while she was sleep-flying she flew into New York, 900,900,900,900,....many, many miles from her forest! She realized she was sleep-flying when she ran into a 500 feet tall building and it was made out of bricks! "Owwww! That hurt!" she shouted. "Where am I?" She looked at a sign that said,"Welcome to New York City!" "Man I hate it when I sleep-fly," she mumbled to herself, "and what is 'New York City' anyways?"

Shaine had never felt anything quite like pain before and boy did she hate it! Shaine knew how to navigate by the sun and stars, but the sun never showed itself. She waited until nightfall, but she couldn't see the stars because the city lights were too bright. Shaine was really annoyed. She needed to get back home to her forest to take care of her baby fairy, Arabella, who is too young yet for her magic fairy abilities.

She screamed her angry fairy scream for a week. To the people of New York City it sounded like a sad puppy yelp. People everywhere were looking for a sad puppy (people cannot see fairies)!

Shaine was really worn out after her week-long scream. She fell asleep, and of-course, she sleep-flew. When she woke-up, she was in her toadstool, her very own toadstool. Arabella was sleeping beside her.

Shaine didn't know if she had dreamt the whole thing.

Meanwhile, people in New York City are still looking for that lost puppy.

Trumpeter Swans

Article posted January 19, 2011 at 01:49 AM GMT0 • Reads 618

I think trumpeter swans are beautiful and graceful. Bapy trumpeter swans are called cygnets. Cygnets are gray when they hatch. I wonder if I'll ever see one up close.
