Mountain Poem

by Everth

Mountains like giant stacks of rocks.

Standing like the walls of a building.

Silent like a cloud

Looking like it would taste like ice cream.

Being Included

When I get included I feel happy because I get to be a part of something. And when I don't get included I feel sad. One time in third grade I remember my friend and I made a really long line with blocks. It was fun because he asked me to join him. I also got included to play tag last week. Being included is alot of fun because you make alot of friends.

Fernando is my little brother. He is my second brother. He was born last year, he is 1 year old

now. When the doctor tried to get him out he accidentally broke his arm! When my dad took

me to see Fernando I was very happy that he

was okay. When we took him home we had to take very good care of him. His nickname is Fer. A few weeks after he was born his arm was fixed so we could cary him better. My mom said that he was lazy because he did not learn to walk until he was

12 months old. Fer is also funny because when me and Alex wrestle and I pin Alex Fer slams his hand on the ground three times. That's all I wrote about Fernando and I love him very much.

Grace Corrigan

Everth

Today somebody very special came to our classroom. The name of the person was Grace Corrigan! Grace Corrigan is the mom of Christa McAuliffe (Teacher in Space). Christa McAuliffe was killed when the Challenger Space Shuttle exploded in 1986! It was really cool because the people who are bringing Grace Corrigan to our class are allowing us to Skype this! Skype is free software where you can hook up with people far away and you can hear them on your computer. We asked a few questions and I even got to ask a question. The question I asked was, “Why did Christa apply to be the teacher in space?” Grace said, “Christa wanted to apply because she wanted to teach kids around the world.” It was lots of fun.

Animal Ark

Everth

Yesterday my class and I went to Animal Ark. Animal Ark is a place where they get animals from people and raise them. It was lots of fun. First we had to take a long ride on the bus. I talked to Paul on the way there. When we got there we had to get a tour guide. We started to go up the trail. First we saw my favorite animal the Bengal Tiger (Panthera Tigris). Then we saw a baby bear, Arctic Fox and a lizard on a rock. We also saw many more animals but I can't remember the rest. My other favorite animal was the raccoon. I like it because of it’s face. It looks cool! Then we went to get our lunches and found a place to sit. I sat next to Paul. I had a ham and cheese sandwich. After lunch I went to the gift shop. I wanted to buy something but I did not have any money! Then we went back to the bus. It took along time to get back to school. I really like Animal Ark and I hope I go to to Animal Ark again soon.

Wrestlemania

I am really excited because this Sunday Chris invited me to watch Wrestlemania 23. I’ve already seen Wrestlemania 21 and 22. I remember at Wrestlemania 21 Batista beat Triple H for the World heavyweight title and John Cena beat JBL for the WWE championship. And at Wrestlemania 22 Rob Van Dam won the Money in the bank ladder match. This year it is Batista VS Undertaker the world Heavyweight championship and the WWE championship match, Shawn Michaels VS John Cena!

Summer Vacation

This summer I want to ride the Vomit Comet because it looks like fun. The Vomit Comet is a kind of airplane that makes you go weightless! One time I was watching a show called Wildboyz. They were in Russia and they were going to ride the Vomit Comet. When they were weightless a character named Steve-O started to throw up and his throw up came out like little golf balls! It was really funny. I want to go on the Vomit Comet because it is like being in space and you can do front flips! That is one thing I want to do this summer. I would also like to see volcanoes erupt because it would looks awesome! I want to look inside a volcano because I want to see what they have inside. I would also like to have bungee jumping lessons because I want to jump off a really high building without dying. It would be really exciting! That is what I want to do this summer!

The Place I Would Like To Go

One of the places I would like to go is Thailand. The reason I want to go there is that I was watching a show called Wild boyz a few days ago and that interested me in going to Thailand. They have really fancy shows of men who make themselves look like women. The people performing have feathers everywhere. It looks like big birds are dancing gracefully. And the taxi cabs look like alot of fun. They take sharp turns. They must feel like a roller coaster that goes side to side. I also would like to go to the stores in Thailand because the hats there look like a mini umbrella and I would like to have one. I also want to see the women that put skinny metal rings around their necks this makes there necks look like its stretching. And in the tiger temple you can go inside and look at real tigers! Its like a tiger zoo. That is where I want to go.

Camera People

Everth

On Monday a camera crew and a lady from Skype were going to video tape our class. They wanted to video tape us because last year a girl in our class had a type of cancer. Our teacher and our school counselor found out how to help the girl. They used something called Skype. The camera crew filmed my class doing math, reading and my teacher showing us Google Earth. They interviewed our teacher. While they interviewed our teacher I was working on my laptop. I liked it when the camera crew was here because before they left they let us ask them questions. They said that they get to travel around the world. That was what interested me.

All Hallows Eve

Everth

On Halloween my family and I went out trick - or - treating. It was lots of fun. The bad part was that my teacher gave me an assignment to write about how I spent my Halloween. First I put on my costume. I was Jigsaw, my little brother was a wrestler from a TV show and my baby brother was a tiger. Everyone thought he was so cute. After we put on our costumes my aunt came to pick us up. When we left we went to my uncle's neighborhood. Two houses gave out Otter Pops. The breeze sent chills down my spine. When we were done in that neighborhood we had filled our bags half way up. Next we went to my other aunt’s neighborhood. When we got to my aunt’s neighborhood we met up with my older cousin Richard. We went to many houses, some were ghoulish but others were not. Richard scared me with my Jigsaw mask. Every time we went to a different house my baby brother grabbed the door handle and tried to open the door. He would also bang on the door. At the end of the night I had filled my bag all the way to the top. We dropped off Richard and went home. It was a thrilling Halloween and it felt awesome.

Skyping Maryland

On Thursday, November 8th, My class Skyped another class in Maryland. The reason we did that was that they sent us twelve videos that they made. They wanted us to see them and write down what we thought about them. The class that we Skyped was an eighth grade class. When we started they introduced themselves and they asked about a girl in our class that had Leukemia. My teacher told the students that she was healthy enough to come to school. Then we talked about the videos that they made. I told them that my favorite was Trouble in Lolliland. I liked it because all the people were o ne color, I liked the blue people. The sound on the computer was very clear but the picture was a little bit fuzzy. The part that I liked best was they were able to make books into videos.

I like my bed because it is very cozy and warm. I also like it because it has a place where you can store things on the side. A different thing that I am thankful for is my PS2. I am thankful for it because it was given to me on my birthday a few years ago. It is very fun to play on because you can buy different games for it. This is the stuff that I am thankful for.

My Class Thanksgiving

Everth

On Tuesday my class had a Thanksgiving celebration. I was looking forward to it because I would not have to eat the food from the lunchroom. When the turkey was being cooked my teacher took a picture of the class around the turkey. I was in the front. I thought my favorite would be the venison which is deer meat. But my favorite was the bread. The cranberries tasted very sour. To me they tasted like ten lemons. One of my friends put a whole bunch of cranberries on my plate. Before I got my food I had to wait in line. When it was my turn to get food I got a big piece of turkey, cod which is fish, venison, duck, berries and bread. At first there was a whole bunch of food. But by the end there was very little food. Most of the food we had there was very different from what I have at Thanksgiving. My class found out that some of the food we usually have at Thanksgiving people did not have at the first Thanksgiving. The reason that we had a feast was that my teacher showed the class a movie about the first Thanksgiving. My favorite part of the movie was when the Pilgrims and the Indians were eating together. My Class had lots of food like turkey, salmon, cod, duck, deer, berries, bread, green beans, corn and pumpkin pie. The class had brought so many pumpkin pies that we had two left over. My teacher took pictures and put them on the internet. That day was very fun and I hope I do it again.

I woke up one morning and I had no idea what was going to happen to me. One day at school I had a really good day. When I was walking to school I was happy. On my way to my classroom I found three dollars. When the bell rang I went to my class and the teacher said, “Get out your laptop and do math.” When I started I did multiplication. I got 100% on My first try. I was so happy that I wanted to get up and run around. The teacher said to stop what we were doing and go to recess. I played in a soccer game. At the end of the game my team won. At lunch they were serving chalupas. I bought an extra. In class the teacher told me to vote for student of the month. When I was done I was learning math. Then I went to recess. After recess the teacher announced the student of the month. It was a girl named Alondra and me. I was really happy and excited. My teacher said the student of the month celebration was going to be on Wednesday. When I was going home I found another two dollars on the field. That day was one of the luckiest days ever.

When I saw my new bike I was really excited. I wanted to ride my bike as soon as I got it. But my parents told me it was too dark. I got a little upset. In the summer I try to ride my bike alot. I use it to go to my friends house. When I went to a skate park with one of my friends I took my bike. One time I fell in a puddle and I got my shirt all wet. My bike has a flat tire. I want to get a new bike so I can ride it in the summer.

The Class Break-in

I could not believe what had happened. Someone fired a rock through our window. When the teacher got to school he said that there was a rock on the floor next to a table. When I went to get in line Mr. Crosby started telling us that someone burglarized some of the classrooms. I felt kinda bad that someone vandalized the school. I also felt mad because I have to write about it. When I sat down Mr. Crosby said that they stole a cord. I was worried that they might of have stolen some of my stuff. I did not want that to happen because I got my bike stolen once. I invaded my pencil box to see if anything of mine was stolen. I was glad that none of my stuff got stolen. Mr. Crosby showed me some pictures of the broken glass. It looked like shattered ice. There was also little pieces of glass everywhere. Bob the janitor got most of the glass. But there was still some crumb sized pieces on the floor. I hope this does not happen again. To see pictures of the break-in go to [LINK]

I also want to got to my uncle’s house so I can have a snowball fight. I like snowball fights because it is funny when the snow gets in people’s clothes. Another reason I like winter break is Christmas. On Christmas my family and I will go to the rest of my family’s house and see what they got for Christmas. Also during winter break it is my birthday. My cousin has his birthday a day after mine. Every year when it is somebody’s birthday after they blow out the candles the whole family dunks the persons head in the cake. The last thing I like during winter break is New Years. I like New Years because I spend a long time at a New Years party. That is why I like winter break.

On the first day of school after winter break I was very excited to go back to school because of the snow. During lunch recess I was playing soccer. It was very hard to play because of the snow. I fell about five times. I was still having a lot of fun.

I felt like just lying on the ground and do nothing. All I could see was a blanket of white and glittery stuff covering the ground. The snow felt like soft, fluffy and cold stuff that you can eat. I got so cold that I could not even feel my hands. I like snow a lot and I wish it would snow every day.

Everth

One day my uncle came to my house and asked If I got good grades? I told him that I got mostly As. Then he told me that because of my good grades he would take me to Disneyland!

A few days later my uncle borrowed a friend’s van so that his family and I could ride together. I felt like I was being forced to fit in a tiny hole.

When we got to Disneyland my uncle rented a hotel. The TV in the hotel only had one channel. The next morning I got out of bed like a rocket. I got my clothes on as fast as I could and I could not wait to go to Disneyland. When all the people woke up my uncle told them lets go.

When we got to Disneyland I was amazed by all the rides. The rides were really fun. My favorite ride was a ride called Splash Mountain. The picture that was taken during the ride looked funny because my uncle looked like he was going to cry!

Then my uncle took us to a place where they serve nachos. The nachos were huge.

After a day of fun we went to the hotel and went to sleep. I am really lucky to have a uncle that will take me to Disneyland.

How To Edit

Everth

The first step in editing is to proofread. Carefully read what you wrote. Look for spelling errors, capitalization mistakes, punctuation errors and correct english.

Then re-read what you wrote and put your finger on every first letter in a sentence. Then put your finger on all the names in your story. Make sure that the names and the first letter in a sentence are capitalized. Then read it one more time out loud and put your finger on every word. Then fix all of the mistakes and that is how you edit.

I have gotten better at looking for capitalization mistakes, punctuation mistakes and good English and if what I wrote makes sense.

And in reading I gotten better in reading big words, I can sound out words better, I can read faster and not mess up and I can figure out what words mean by looking at how the word is used in a comment.

That is why I think students should blog

Space Lesson

Today we learned about space. We started talking about light. Light is the fastest thing we know. It travels at 186,000 miles per second. Light is so fast that it can travel around the Earth seven times in a second. It can go to the moon in less than two seconds.

I also learned that the next closest star is one called Alpha Centauri. It would take over four years for light to get to Alpha Centauri. At 18,000 miles per hour it would still take 158,000 years to get to Alpha Centauri.

Then I learned about the Sun and that it is a star. It takes light over eight minutes to get to the sun. The Sun is really a ball of burning gas. When you look up into the sky you see where the sun was eight minutes ago.

Lastly I saw a video about planets and stars. Pluto is the smallest planet. Saturn and Jupiter make the other planets look like a cookie crumb. And then the Sun made the planets look like ants. Other stars make the Sun look like a a little piece of dirt. That is what I learned today.

Last week I tried to look at a lunar eclipse. The first time I went out it was about 7:00 pm. I told my dad that I had to watch the eclipse for homework. Then I ran outside and I could not see the moon. The whole sky was covered with clouds. I stood stood out there looking for the moon for about ten minutes. Then I went into my backyard to look for the moon and I still could not see it. I went back inside. I waited ten minutes and went out again. The sky had cleared out a bit and I saw the moon. The moon was about half way covered up. It looked like the letter D. On the third time out it was colder than before and there was a huge cloud in front of the moon. I did not think I was going to see the moon again because of the cloud. I was really disappointed.

I was walking home one day when I saw a bird off in the distance flying in my direction. As it got closer I noticed that it didn’t look like any bird I’ve ever seen. It kept flying towards me and to my amazement it zoomed right up to me and landed softly on my shoulder. I wasn’t sure what to do. I thought it was cool, but it also made me very nervous. Then it bent its neck to look me straight in the eye and suddenly it started attacking me. I tried to defend myself but I could not get it to stop. So I pushed the bird off my shoulder and started to run. The bird quickly started flying towards me again. I ran as fast as I could but it kept catching up. Then with the last of my energy I leaped to my front door. I got in and slammed the door. The bird hit the door. My mom asked me what happened? I told her nothing happened. Then I remembered that I had left my window open. I ran to my room and the bird had laid eggs. The eggs started to hatch the baby birds were flying in my room. I ran downstairs and told my mom that there are four birds in my room who want to attack me. My mom asked me if I was feeling well? I took her upstairs to my room and the birds were gone. My mom had a weird look on her face. She told me to take a nap. When my mom left I started to look for the birds. I started to lie down and then I was sleeping. Then the birds flew in my room and they each grabbed a part of me. They flew out with me and I was never seen again!

We had just sat down on the school bus that was taking us on our field trip when the bus driver stood up, turned around and in a loud voice said, “ We are not going on the trip you thought we were. Your class has won a trip to a very special place.”

The next thing we knew some kind of gas started to spray from the ceiling and we all fell asleep in our seats. When we woke up hours later we found out we had been taken to the military base! When we got out of the school bus we saw a big building. We went inside and there was a lot of security men and security cameras. A man came up to us and asked us if we the special class that got chosen to be on the trip. We told him yes. He took us to look around he told us that we were going to spend the night there. We went to our assigned rooms the man recommended that we go to sleep right now. We were so dumb that we did not go to sleep early. The next day we got up at 3:00 am I was so tired and I could tell that other kids were tired to. We took a shower with cold water it even made my head hurt. Then we went to war. Three days past and we went to camp. The sarge told us to go to sleep because tomorrow will be the day we go to war. So I tried to go to sleep but the guy sleeping under me was snoring like a pig. The sarge woke us up by blowing his whistle. The he told us to get down and give me fifty. So the guy went down and gave him fifty dollars. The sarge slapped his hand and told him to do fifty pushups. After we did the pushups we ate breakfast. The food was yucky and it looked like mud. Then we went to get our uniform. The sarge left to get something and we all escaped out the window and ran home.

In my class we are doing a thing where we take a picture that our teacher gave us and write a story about it. Me and another person in my class named Jazmin are working together with another person in New York. On Thursday me and my partner skyped our other partner. When Mr. Crosby said it was our turn me and Jazmin were working on a thing called Google Doc. Google Doc is something on the internet that you can write in and everyone in the world can see what you wrote. We sat down and talked about the different characters in our story and what happens to the characters. Some stuff did not work well. most of the time I could not understand him and the screen kept getting frozen. He wanted to put fiction and a little bit of horror in the story. We agreed with him. We also agreed that a son of a captain will try to find his father because the father got lost. After we agreed on that our time was up and it was the next person’s turn.

Seven Wonders Of The World

Everth

This is about the Seven Wonders of The World. Long ago people were chosen to pick the seven greatest things built by humans, The Great Pyramid of Egypt is the only wonder of the ancient world still standing. Later a different group of people asked experts to chose seven new wonders. Three of the wonders use water, Two of the wonders are tall and two of the wonders are long. The Seven Wonders Of The Modern World are the Channel Tunnel, the Netherlands North Sea Protection, the CN Tower, the Empire State Building, the Golden Gate Bridge, Panama Canal and the Itaipu Dam. I wish that I could go to some of them one day.

Marsopolis.

Everth

On Wednesday morning I got up and remembered that today was Marsopolis. I got my clothes on and went to my moms room to tell her if she had the scale to way my lunch. She told me that she had forgot it at work. She told me that she would go get it. Then I went down stairs to get the bread and the ham and the other stuff for my lunch. Just then I heard a knock on the door. I opened it and Paul was at the door. When my mom got back from her work I started making my sandwich. When I finished it weighed to little so I grabbed a bananas and then it weighed right on 10 ounces. Now I had to find a drink. As I was looking for something to drink I let Paul weigh his lunch. His did not way right so my mom told him to put some of his lunch in a plastic bag. Then it weighed right. I saw a little bottle of water but it only weighed 8 ounces. So I grabbed another one of the small bottles and only put a little bit of water until it weighed 2 ounces. Then I finished my lunch.

Then there was another knock on the door. This time it was Marcos. He had to weigh his lunch too. He had alot of stuff. He had a extra sandwich so he gave it to me.

He did not have enough to drink. So I gave him one of the water bottles to put more water in his bottle . When he was done with his lunch we looked at the time and it was 8:53.

We ran to school as fast as we could. When we got in the classroom a lot of people were in the class. most of them were weighing their lunch. I got in line to weigh my lunch. It was right on 22 ounces. I went to my seat and a lot of girls were at the table making journals for the trip. They finished quickly and started passing them out to people in the class. Then Mr. Crosby told us to go outside and to be with your group.

We started heading to the bus. Mr. Taylor's kids were already in the bus. I sat near my friends Paul and Marcos. When everybody was seated the bus driver started talking through a microphone. We talked most of the way to the Reno Livestock Events Center. That's were Marsopolis was going to be held.

As we got off the bus I could hear the music playing from outside. I went inside with my group to the tables where we had to put our stuff. Then we had to sit down somewhere on the cement floor. Loud music was playing and I could not hear the people next to me.

After some announcements we went to look for our address. When we found it I saw about ten other people by me. We introduced each other and got to work. We had to build a habitat to live in. At first no one knew what to do. Then I thought of something and It worked. After the first part was done it got a bit harder. We had to put the sides on. All we had was a roll of ducted tape and a lot of foggy plastic.

We set one piece of plastic on the ground next to the other one. Then we taped them together. We did that four times. Then we made every side stand up so that we could tape them together. That part was hard because the sides kept shaking.

After most of the sides were up a kid from a different school went inside the habitat to put the roof on. I went inside with him. He held up one side and I held up another. After most of the roof was put up the people outside the habitat were telling us to get out because if they finished putting the roof up there was going to be no way out. We finished taping the inside and got out.

Then we started making the hole for the fan. That took a long time. We had troubles with that because we could not figure out how big to make the for the fan. Once we made the hole a captain from a different school started making a tunnel to put the fan in. They had a problem with that because they could not get the tunnel the right shape.

When the tunnel was finished the even harder part came. We had to hook up the tunnel to the habitat. Me and a kid from another class got inside the the habitat to hook up the tunnel from the inside. It took a long time to get the tunnel hooked up right. It got very hot in the habitat.

When I finally got out they were already putting the fan on. That part was hard because the front of the fan kept on moving. They ducted taped most of the tunnel to the fan. When they finished taping the tunnel to the fan somebody turned the fan on and the habitat started to inflate.

Suddenly I heard a loud siren. An announcer said that all the Risley students go get your lunch. A girl in our group named Emilee went to get our lunches from her backpack. I got my lunch and started walking back to the habitat. I saw my friend Marcos sitting by my habitat and sat next to him.

I had a ham and cheese sandwich with a bag of Cheetos. Paul came by and gave us some of his hot onion rings. When I was looking for my water I remembered I drank almost all of my water. Luckily a girl in my class had a can of soda and she poured a little bit into my water bottle.

Then the loud siren started again. Everybody hurried to the center of the room. Then the announcer told everybody that it was time to get your systems ready to show your group. He also said that other kids were going to watch videos students made about facts about Mars.

My group and I had to show our system to the other people in our group. We got in our habitat and when we got in all the other groups had their systems with them. The first system that we saw was an air system. It had a little greenhouse and little houses.

After the other groups showed their systems it was our turn. Our system was communication. Emilee was the first one talk about the system. She told them that we had made a laptop. Emilee told them about the solar panels on the back of the laptop. Karla told them about the antennas on the top of the laptop. Then I told them about the speakers on the sides.

After everybody was finished the loud siren started again. When I went to the center of the room the announcer told us to switch.

Now I had to watch videos. I also had to write in a journal about the videos. Watching the videos was funny because in a lot of them the kids messed up. My friend Paul spotted an ant trying to carry a piece of a Dorrito. I started playing with the ants. I thought the ants were more interesting than the videos.

When the videos were over we finally went outside. At first it was a little boring because we played a game called telephone. My class and Mr. Taylor's class had a relay race. There was five teams and they all had to tag Mr. Taylor and then go back to their group. After the race was over for the rest of the time we were outside we played Duck Duck Goose.

When we got called to go back inside all the habitats were connected. The announcer told everyone that we were going to do something called the walk through. We had to walk through every habitat from one end of the room to the other. At the beginning when I just got in to one of the habitats there was so many people that it started to smell bad. It was also very hot in the habitat. I sat next to a fan to get cooled off. When I got half way through I saw my friends. We ran through the rest of the habitats until a teacher told us to slow down.

When the walk through was over the buses started coming for the kids. We were one of the last schools to go. When the bus came we sat at the same seats we were sitting when we came here. It was a short ride back to school. When we got to school Mr. Crosby told us we could go home. I thought it was fun at Marsopolis and I hope to do it again.

Spider - Man

Everth

Name of character: Spider - Man

The reason I chose him is because in his movies he risks his life to save others.

In his first movie he finds out that a guy killed his Uncle Ben. So even though he does not know how to web swing, He still goes after the guy. You could tell that his heart was racing and as he shot his first web and swung he was scared. He almost crashed into everything but he soon mastered swinging and caught the guy.

In the same movie he saves a little girl as peter parker. The little girl is trapped in a burning building and peter booms in to save her. Even though its like 200 degrees in the building, he starts sweating so much that you could make a pool out of his sweat. He finds her but as he is carrying back the girl, the floor falls. He throws the little girl to the other side and then he leaps to the other side. Soon he gets out of the mostly destroyed building and an ambulance puts an oxygen mask on him.

The last way he shows courage is when he thinks he wants to quit. He thinks that being a super hero is ruining his life but he does not quit because he wants to keep making New York safe for people.

When I saw the cat I thought it was looking at a rat or something. The cat looked skinny so I thought it was hungry. Then he saw a bunch of rats. The cat jumped into the rat pile and started to claw the rats one by one. The cat killed like twenty rats. The cat stayed at that spot forever because he knew that there were rats there. So from that day on the cat became fat and never starved again.

7 Random Facts

Here are 7 random facts about me. One of my favorite things to do is to play soccer, because every time you do a good play your teammates congratulate you. Another thing I like to do is to hang out with my cousins because even though they are 4 years older than me they still include me in most of the things they do. Something cool about me is that my birthday is three days after Christmas so I get a lot of stuff. The kind of music that I like is mostly metal. One of the most favorite things I like to do with my cousin is to watch anime on YouTube. I like anime because it shows most of them in Japanese and it shows the subtitles in English. One of the places I like to go are the movies because I don't go there that often and inside the movie theater they show the movies in surround sound. The last thing I like to do is watch Jackie Chan Adventures on TV. I like it because it is funny and has Jackie Chan in it. Those are seven random facts about me.

One thing that concerns me is immigration. You should let more immigrants pass into the country. You should also make it easier to get papers so that they can stay here. That is something that concerns me the most.

Another thing that concerns me is the war in Iraq. I think that the war should be stopped because more people are dying everyday. When there family finds out that another member of there family just died in the war they are devastated. It should also be stopped because it wastes a lot of money that could be used to rebuild roads, money for schools and homeless people.

Taking My Brother To School

I first got the news like a week before school started. My mom told me that since my brother had to start school I had to take him.

I felt sad and mad. I always walked to school with my friend Paul. Now I had to worry about somebody else. The reason I felt kind of sad is because when I went to school by myself I could of left my house a little late and still would have gotten to school on time. Now I have to leave a little bit early because he still can’t run that fast.

The reason I felt mad is that I knew that he was not going to wake up early in the morning so I would have to keep telling him to get up. Another thing that gets me mad is sometimes when we get ready to go to school he does not listen to me. Like I tell him to get out of bed and he just pretends to still be asleep.

Most of the time he is to lazy to get his own clothes. A funny thing about him is that when he does not pay attention he puts some of my other brother’s clothes who is two years old. He gets very mad at me when I keep telling to change his clothes.

He starts yelling at me and he tells me That he doesn’t have to go to school. Then he says that he is going to tell on me. The only way that I can get him to get up and listen to me is if I tell him that if the school is going to serve pizza.

Most of the times I like to take him but almost all the time he really annoys me. I hope that when he goes into the first grade he will listen more and get dressed with his own clothes.

Skypeing Alan

Everth

Today we Skyped Mr. Crosby's friend named Alan. Alan

went to China with Mr. Crosby. Now he is in Iceland because a friend of his asked him to watch his house while they were on vacation. Iceland is not really as cold as people say it is. Warm water from the equator goes around the island so that makes it warm. The place that Alan lives is pretty far from the main city. He told us that he had to take care of horses and a dog. He showed us the dog and it looked kind of like a fox. The way that Iceland gets most of it’s energy is by Geothermal power. Geothermal power is using steam from the ground. He also showed us the money that they use there. It is called kroner. Some of the coins have a crab, a shark and a fish. The weird thing is that people Iceland eat shark. He told us that he never tried shark meat but people from Iceland chew on it. I asked him a lot of questions. One of the questions I asked was if they had Sponge bob Square pants in Iceland but he said no. Another cool thing is that he is going to come to our classroom in two weeks to visit us. He told us that he would bring us some kroners. I thought that Alan was a cool guy and I think it will be cool to have him in our classroom for a day.

Reindeer

Reindeer

It was the night before Christmas and my mom told me to go to bed. I had no idea what I was going to find that night. I had trouble going to sleep with the excitement of Santa coming to our house. All year I wanted a new bike. All of a sudden CRASH! I heard a loud noise on the roof.

I crept slowly to my living room with a baseball bat. I heard mumbling in my living room. I hid behind the wall ready to attack. A shadow as big as a big boulder showed up. I stuck my head out to see what or who it was. Big black boots, long red sparkling pants and a bulky ruby robe. It was Santa Clause! He was panicking. I asked what was wrong.

‘’Dancer has sprained his ankle. With out a replacement reindeer Christmas will be canceled,’’ Said Santa.

‘’I wish I could help,’’ I said.

‘’Maybe you can. How would you like to be a reindeer for a night,’’Asked Santa?

I stood still for a moment because I thought he was joking. I thought of flying around the world before but never in the form of an animal.

‘’So are you in,’’ Asked Santa?

‘’I’m in,’’ I answered.

Suddenly I was on the roof. I saw Dancer on the ground and the other reindeer taking care of him. Santa tele-ported Dancer to the North Pole so the elves could take care of him. I asked Santa how I was going to turn into a reindeer. Then I felt a squeeze on my left shoulder. Blitzen had bitten me. The next thing I new I felt oogly woogly. My body was shaking and I was getting fatter. My clothes were stretching and my hands and feet were getting bigger and suddenly my hands and feet turned into hooves. My nose was stretching I felt like I was Laffy Taffy. The next thing I new I was a reindeer.

‘’Whoa, how come I can’t balance anymore,’’ I asked?

‘’You need to learn how to balance. Here eat this cookie.’’ Said Santa.

‘’What kind of cookie is it? What will it do to me,’’ I asked?

‘’This is a magic cookie that Mrs. Clause made if we had something like this ever happen. This cookie will give you all the skills of a trained reindeer.’’ Santa told me.

I bit the cookie out Santa’s hand and ate it. It tasted like a gingerbread man. A harness was put on me and all I had to do was start running. I felt myself getting lighter and lighter until I was in the air.

Blitzen, the reindeer I was next to told me that whatever I do never stop moving my feet. I was curious why he said that to me. I stopped moving my legs for just a second and I started dropping. I soon started moving my legs again. That was one of the most scariest things that had ever happened to me.

I never knew how flying was so hard. I thought the reindeer just jumped off the ground and started flying. Instead you have to keep steady and you can’t move a lot or you could crash and you have to keep moving your feet. I bet I would of crashed like ten times by now if I did not eat that cookie. As we were coming closer to the first house I was kind of scared that I could not balance. I felt something coming out of the bottom of my hooves. the spikes were there so that I would not slip on the roof. I saw Santa getting the toys for the kids that lived that lived in the house. Next he was heading for the chimney. I thought that there was no way that he could fit down that skinny chimney.

‘’How does Santa fit down all the chimneys,’’I asked?

‘’Nobody knows not even us,’’ Blitzen told me.

All we ever see is that he jumps and magically fits down the chimney. When he came back up he was all black and covered in soot. I saw him jump up and down shaking of all the soot and then we moved on. When I jumped up and started flying the spikes went back into my hooves. It tickled. When we finished delivering the presents to my whole state we had to go to the next. I always wondered how Santa got to every place before sunrise. I was about to find out. I saw Santa put something in his sleigh.

I heard Santa say that we had to go into hyper speed. A portal had opened up in front of us. I was really nervous about what was going to happen. Blitzen just told me to relax. I could not relax I thought that we would blow up or the portal would lead to a different planet or something. We slowly came closer to the portal and as soon as the first reindeer went into the portal all of us got sucked in. We were going so fast that I felt the skin coming off me. Suddenly we stopped. We were in another state in a few seconds.

‘’So that's how he delivers all the presents so fast,’’ I whispered to myself.

Now that I new how to do everything and not get scared the rest of the trip was easy. The last house was my house. I never got to see what my present was. Santa just said good-bye and transformed me back into a human. That transformation was not as painful as the first one. Then he put some magic stuff on me and I was in bed. In the morning I woke up and jumped out of bed to see what Santa had left at our house. My parents and my bothers were already down stairs. And in front of the tree was a brand new bike. Right under the bike was a note. It said

Dear Everth

Thank you for all the help you gave me last night.

Dancer is doing better he can walk but the elves

are still taking care of him. I left a bike for you I hope you like it. Any ways thanks for all the help.

Love Santa.

I new that this was the best Christmas ever.

When Juan Came To Our Classroom

On Friday Lesley's brother named Juan came to our classroom. Juan is in college and talk to us about going to college. Juan was in my teachers class 7 years ago. He came to this school in fourth grade. Mr. Crosby showed us a video Juan was in about rocks. After the video we had to go to lunch. When we came back from lunch Juan was here. When everybody was in their seat Mr. Crosby asked Juan what he was studying. Juan told us the he was studying biology. He wanted to be a pediatrician. That is a kid doctor. Somebody asked him what inspired him to go to college. He said that he wanted to set a example for his brothers and sisters. He also told us about all the scholarships he got. One of the Scholarships he got was the Millennium Scholarship. That paid for some of his college stuff. Juan told us how expensive college is. It is $14000 where he is going for tuition and $450 for his books. Luckily he had his scholarships paid for it. He told us that the teachers in college are very strict. In high school if you need a little more time to work on something they give you that time but in college if you have to turn it in on time or else the teachers don’t accept it. He also told us that it is a bad idea to put things until the last minute. Today I learned a lot about going to college. I hope he comes back one day to talk to us again.

On Friday we had two people from the Reno Wolf Pack. One of them was a girl named Cherlanda. She has been playing since she was Eleven. She is a forward and her major in college is in communications. The other girl was Kayla. She is also a forward. Her major is in Science and both of them have a scholarship that pays all of college expenses. They have traveled to a lot of different places. They say that they play California a lot. They have won 8 times and lost 7 times. Cherlanda, the captain of the basket ball team is working to get her masters. To exercise they swim and run laps a lot. They also have to eat healthy and drink lots of water. They had a nutritionist come in yesterday. The people on the basket ball team can not go snow boarding or else they can get in trouble. If they hurt something they won’t be able to play and that might damage the team. I asked them if anybody on the team could slam dunk. They told us that nobody on the team could slam dunk. A kid in my class told me to ask them if they ever got so mad at somebody on the court that they wanted to fight them. Cherlanda told me that she has gotten mad at a person but they never fought them. After a that they had to visit another classroom so we could not ask them any more questions.

Now that I am in 6th grade I get included a lot more because I have met more people since I left 4th grade.  Being included is a lot of fun because you make a lot of friends.

My Experience Blogging.

In the past three years my class has been blogging. My favorite part of blogging is seeing all the comments people have left me. Blogging is fun because you can get to know different people from around the world. The things I have learned to do better are reading, writing, and using proper English. I got better in those things because of blogging. But sometimes blogging gets kind of boring. Some days our teacher makes us blog for a long time. And when I am done with all my work, we have to leave comments on other blogs. Some of the other blogs have good posts that are easy to leave comments on. But some blogs don’t really have good ones so I get bored. The hardest part of blogging for me would have to be checking the post for mistakes. It is the hardest part for me because sometimes I do not see some mistakes and when I post it on my blog people see that mistake. But blogging is cool and I am glad we get to do it.

The Softball Accident

Two college softball teams were playing for a chance at the championship. When a girl named Sara who never hit a home run in her life, hit one. She ran to first base but she missed it. She tried to turn around but she fell with a scream. People went to see what happened. Sara tore the ligaments in her knee. If her team helped her it would of not counted as a home run. So a girl from the other team that hit the most home runs out of all the teams that they have played. Volunteered to help her. People got emotional at the sight of rival teams helping each other. Sara could never play softball again. But she finally hit a home run. I thought it was cool that the girl from the other team helped an injured player.

New Zealand

On Tuesday, March, 17 we Skyped a class in New Zealand. After we sang part of Home Means Nevada, they sang their national song. I did not understand any of it. It was in a language called Maori. The second time they sang it in English. They told us that they have four million people living in New Zealand. My friend Karla asked them what was their favorite sport. They answered rugby, cricket, and soccer. Their climate is mostly sunny. And they are almost into winter. They also have 200 school days and we only have 180 school days. They talked to a class in British Columbia last week. That day was fun and I learned a lot.

Super Cat

Super Cat

A abandoned cat named Gary was on a street. He fell down a sewer and became Super Cat. This is his story. It all started one Saturday morning when he was strolling down the street and a dog came out of nowhere. He knocked the cat into a sewer hole. He fell into a gooey, toxic ball. Screeches came out of the sewer as Gary was being engulfed in the gooey toxic ball. Gary crawled out of the ball feeling lightheaded. He passed out a second later.

The next morning he woke with a headache. Gary could not remember anything from last night. His paws were a strange yellow color. He spotted a mouse and in a flash it was in Gary’s paw. The yellow in his paws was now a greenish color.

Gary did not know what was happening he tried to remember what happened the night before but it was all a blur. Gary spotted some gooey stuff next to him. He checked it out and slowly remembered what happened. Gary got super cat powers! That's how he caught the mouse so fast. He kept walking down the sewer not knowing where he was going. Finally he saw a opening. He squeezed through it.

Gary was standing on a dark stairway. It was old, the tiles creaked, and the stairs were unstable. He used his super cat powers to fix the stairway. In a flash of green light the stairway was as good as new. Gary was noticed by saving other cats from danger, and from that day on he became known as Super Cat. Super Cat made his hide out near the staircase that he fixed. That is the story of Super Cat.

Pluto

By Everth

The amazing, most marvelous thing about Pluto is that it has three moons. It was called a planet for seventy-six years. It was discovered in 1930. And in August 24, 2006 it was named a dwarf planet. But the amazing, most marvelous thing about Pluto is that it has three moons.

Today we Skyped a man named Will Richardson. He is a vegetarian. His family have been vegetarians for almost eight years. He told us that animals make 87000 pounds of poop per second. His wife wrote a book that has a bunch of different ways to help the environment. He also told us that we need trees to survive. If we keep cutting down trees there will be less oxygen. That was our Skype for the day.

My System

www.flickr.com/photos/36362146@N02/3530761969/My System For my Mars system my group and I built a car and a glider. The glider has very big wings so it can fly on Mars. It needs big wings because the atmosphere on Mars is very thin. One of the reasons we picked a glider is because it does not use any energy. The cockpit in the middle has a emergency parachute in case something goes bad. The car has very big wheels to move the rocks on Mars. The car is powered by solar panels and wind turbines in the axle of the tire. We chose that because of the high winds on Mars. It also has a nose that makes it aerodynamic. The car also has a statilite dish and cameras on top. The dish senses objects and then turns the cameras in that direction. Those are the systems that me and my group made.

Last Three Years

Article posted June 3, 2009 at 07:04 PM GMT0 • Reads 622

In the last three years we have done a lot in my class. One of my favorite things was taking a picture of half of our faces and we had to draw in the other side with colored pencils. Then we had to tell stuff about ourselves. It was fun because when I looked at it this year I looked extremely different. In 4th grade I had super long hair. My mom told me that I should cut my hair like a million times.

Another memory of being in this class was Skyping for the first time. It so totally awesome because I never thought that you could do something like that with just the internet and a web cam. Now my class Skypes way more and I a got used to it.

My favorite memory was going on a field trip to Squaw Valley. It was a long ride there and most of the fun was being in the bus with my friends. I took pictures while I was there. The only part I did not like was eating lunch. It was very crowded. One of the most fun things we did there was ride a cable car.
