Buck Fever

Article posted September 8, 2005 at 05:36 PM GMT0 • Reads 159

The scariest monster I have ever defeated is buck fever. In order to defeat this monster you have to take a deep breath, take careful aim, and squeeze off a shot. If you do all of these things your shot will be succesful. If you are a hunter you know what I am talking about.

The Birds Story

Article posted September 15, 2005 at 06:00 PM GMT0 • Reads 69

I liked the birds story in some ways in other ways I did not like it. I liked the action in the story with trying to survive through the bird attacks. I didn't like the ending of the story because it kind of just leaves you hanging and doesn't tell you wether they live or die. So the odds I give the family are slim to none. This story is by Daphne du Maurier.

Poison

I liked this story for the most part because it kept my attention, but in the end I didn't like the ending. I didn't like it because it was not what I wanted. I wanted them to find the snake and kill it. This story by Ronald Dahl.

Big Bad Nature

Article posted September 26, 2005 at 06:08 PM GMT0 • Reads 58

After hurricane Katrina New Orleans was devastated. This is a perfect literary conflict of man vs. nature. The core of engineers tried to build against a huge hurricane but it was not enough. So in this conflict nature won.

The Sandlot

Article posted December 2, 2005 at 05:39 PM GMT0 • Reads 75

In this movie kids play baseball in this old sandlot. One day Hams hits a homerun so they don’t have a ball. Then Scottie steals his dads Babe Ruth autographed baseball (not knowing who Babe Ruth is) and plays with it. He gets to hit first cause it’s his ball. He hits a homerun. The ball goes over the fence in mean old Mr. Myrtle’s yard. The beast; a huge man eating dog gets the ball and the boys scheme to get the ball back from him throughout the movie. The Sandlot is an excellent movie. I believe this way for a few reasons, here they are: the story has good characterization, excellent plot, and fair moral. In this movie kids play baseball in this old sandlot.

First, the characters in the sandlot are perfect for this movie. They are just like normal eleven and twelve year olds. All they want to do is play. They go to the pool and play baseball all summer long like most kids.

Second, the plot is good because the story is meant to be humorous and it is. The story is also suspenseful. This comes from anticipating if their plans will work to get the Babe Ruth ball back. It’s humorous because of some of the solutions they come up with to get the ball from the beast. In the end of the movie Benny the Jet Rodriguez just goes over and gets the ball. Then there is a huge chase because the dog jumps over the fence.

Last, the moral is good because the story is very funny. Also, this story shows that sometimes all you have to do is ask. The story proves this because in the end Mr. Myrtle says he would have got it for them if they asked.

In summary, the Sandlot is an excellent, exciting, and thrilling story. If you have not seen the Sandlot I recommend you do because it has good moral, excellent plot, and superb characterization.
