Kapa haka

Maori people are the tangata whenua (people of the land).

Since they were the tangata whenua , they were the native people of New Zealand. (Here before pakeha's).

What I am suppose to be talking about is Kapa Haka, something that I am going to explain about.

Why I said at the start what tangata whenua is all about, was because it is how kapa haka is related to Maori people in New Zealand.

Kapa haka is a very special thing to perform for us back here in N.Z.

(Well mainly us Maori).

Anyway Kapa haka to me is everything.

meaning nothing will get in my way to perform and love Kapa haka.

There are maori songs (meaning translation to engish version).

Actions and expression to go with it.

The most songs to sing and perform on stage is 7.

In a bracket we do:

Waiata Tira(Choral)

Whakaeke(Entrance)

Waiata-koroua (Chant)

Waiata-a-ringa (action song)

Poi (ball on a string, girls special performance)

Haka (to show and to let out your anger, special performance for the boys).

Lastly the Whakawatea ( Exit, to finish off the hard work that you have put into kapa haka).

Anyway that is what kapa haka , but mostly, all it is to me is Just for the LOVE of it.
