Article posted July 31, 2007 at 12:46 AM GMT0 • Reads 60

Hi my name is Lavinia At school we have a kapahaka group. Kapahaka is a Maori traditional type of dance.

3 weeks ago our group performed at the Tainui Regional competition in Te Awamutu in the North Island of New Zealand.Tainui is the name of the people who live in our Waikato area.

In our performance we had to do a bracket of Maori songs ...

waiata tira(choral

whakaeke(entrance)

waiata koroua(chant)

waiata-a-ringa (action song)

Poi(when girls do their dance)

haka (when the boys do their dance)

whakawatea(exit)

Thats kapahaka.
