Our First Day

Friday, October 7 we started our first Ejournalist class. We met in the computer lab where we all got to know each other and learned what this class was all about. Monsieur explained what we were going to learn.Then we went on a tour with our reporters eyes , ears and nose to see and discuss what the other groups were doing. Stay tuned for further updates.

Taco Salad In The Making

Have you ever tasted good Mexican food?

Well the kids in Mrs.Betteridge's ethnic cooking class have. They said they picked the country "Mexico" because they said it's really great food! They probably made the best taco salad

ever!! You should have been there it smelled so good, they had just started to eat it at 1:35 when our mouths were drooling!!!

Painting up a Storm in Room 5

Room 5 was where they were painting up a storm with leaves!Slapping paint with brushes,bright colors and black paper!They were having a

blast painting rainbow leaves and mixing colors.They were focusing on

color and contrast.On the pieces of paper were multi- colored

leaves,bright colors and all kinds of leaves!On the childrens faces were

smiles and talking to their friends and focusing too!

Ryan's group was making houses. Two kids were crossing their hands and making a window and Ryan was reading the newspaper.

Cassie's team made a chair and carried Cassie.

Jazlyn's group was making one of those baking equipment.

After they were discussing what they were going to do next.The teacher

was explaining what they were doing. Then everyboby went in the middle

and began to something else.

Talk about wacky science experiments!

Ms.MacKinnon's science class was doing an experiment with

parachutes.They were droping them from the play structure and seeing

whose touched the ground last. It was really cool!

Flower Power!

Gardening girls and boys were learning how to plant in

room 10 with Ms.Wakeman.They were making gardening books and learning

how to plant!On their first session they were slipping plants. Session

two they were digging the flower bed. Then on their third session they

were planting tulip bulbs!They also took pieces of spider plants,ivy and

coleus clips off of big plants!

Mad Scientists go Mad!!

Have you ever seen mad scientists go mad? Well we sure

have. The people in room 11 were making parachutes out of fishing

string, masking tape, paper and a 20cm canister of water!! We

interviewed a student and he said they were forced to make parachutes.

He also said they would test them in the classroom today!! So if you

ever want to see a mad scientist in their making, come here!

Dance All Day

We walked on to the dance floor in the gym with

Ms.Picard and her dance class.They were doing the traditional Mexican

Hat Dance. The music was awsome! It felt as if we were really in Mexico,

but they did'nt stop there. Immediately they switched to the Jiffy

Mixer. You could hear their feet moving. It was amazing!!!

Centennial Marching Band

When we were in room 9 we were watching them pretend

that they were in a marching band. They were marching in the the hall

and lots of people looked like they were really embarassed. When they

got back in they got some instruments and they were reading Thomas'

Snowsuit and when they heard a word that sounded like their instrument

they would play their instrument.

Japanese Culture attacks Room 12

Have you ever seen a Japanese sand garden.In Mr. Ogren's Japanese

class were making mini versions of them.They were doing it in room 12

with Mr O.They were doing it from 1:00 until 2:00.To make them they used

popsicle sticks,spare cut wood and toothpicks.They also painted them

redish.They were using mini saws to cut the wood to the perfect size.

Mrs.Gaffray's Favorites

Today I interviewed Mrs.Gaffray. She loves fruit. Her favorite fruits are strawberries,kiwis, and pinapples, but Mrs.Gaffray doesn't like all fruit. She hates grapefruit! Her favorite T.v.

show is C.S.I. Her least favorite T.V. show is Jerry Springer.

Mrs.Gaffray's favorite colour is yellow. The colour of her van is

blueish green.

She's realy good at scrap booking! She loves to

watch hockey. Mrs.Gaffray's favorite T.V. actress is Kaitie Holms.

Her favorite family member is her Grandma.

My Interview with Monsieur

I was interviewing Monsieur and it was about his

family. His son's name is Robert,his daughter's name is Nicole,his

wife's name is Luz.

His son is an office manager and his daughter is at the university.

His wife is a personal care worker.

His son was born in 1979 and

his daughter was born in 1984 and his wife is was born in 1955.

He met his wife in 1975 in the summer of July. Monsieur is vry proud of his

family. Monsieur thinks his family is mostly always happy. Monsier loves

his family lots and also knows lots about his family and they all live

in Winnipeg.

Hi, I'm Kendall and I interviewed Lee in

Centennial School!Lee likes to play soccer because he is good at it and

he is competetive.He plays soccer at recess and he has being playing

soccer since grade one!Lee likes to practice with a lot of people!His

friend Darrell and his dad taught him how to play.

He has one more

interest and it is sailing!He likes to sail because he likes being on

the water and it is challenging!Lee is new at sailing and hasn't

been doing it for a long time.A buddy named Steve taught Lee how to

sail.Well that's what I found out about Lee!

Interview with Marty

This week I interviewed Marty. I asked hlm if he had

any favorite sports and he said he liked to play soccer, dodgeball and

bowling.

He lives with his mom and three brothers.

Marty's

favorite food is rice. His favorite color is red. He likes to watch

C.S.I He has no favorite hobby.

In a nutshell I had lots of fun

interviewing Marty!!

hockey game.In his spare time he has fun drawing.He has never played

chess.He doesen't even know how to play.At home he enjoys playing

PS2. His favorite game is ...ATV Offroad Fury. He also enjoys soccer and football.

He helped build his new house.He doesn't like

News on Japan

In the Japan talent project students were making sand gardens.They were using tooth picks and popsicle sticks to make designs in

the sand. The sand was called chinchilla dust. At 1:30 they were puting

the sand gardens to the side and went on to the Japanese language.

It is Wednesday, November 16 with a temperature of -15 celsius and all our schools have been closed due to the poor road conditions.The winds have really whipped up the snow making the roads very dangerous. Interviews at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home

Today our Ejournalist group walked over to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home to interview 3 residents about what it was like growing up in Lac du Bonnet in the early 1900s.The wind was really howling as we made our trek to the Home but we all were very enthusiastic to learn more about our early history.We were greeted by 3 ladies who had a lot to tell us about Lac du Bonnet's early history.We came away having met people who had experienced some big historical moments in Canada's history.
