The first section in the book is about monsters. Post one of your journal entries about monsters. Also, check out what your fellow students have said and leave a comment or two.

Bloggers, great work so far. I'm really impressed. Remember that the goal is one good post and one intelligent response every two weeks.

If you have article pending publication because I was waiting for a permission slip, and you have since turned in a permission slip, please remind me to publish your post.

A Good Post

Article posted September 26, 2005 at 03:54 PM GMT • Reads 129

Right now my definition of a good post, or a good comment is this: A post or comment that clearly presents ones ideas and experiences to say something meaningful about the world.

What do you think? Do you have a better definition or a revision to this one?

Typing Papers

Article posted October 3, 2005 at 03:57 PM GMT • Reads 175

Freshmen,

Using the computers in my room to type your papers is a pain because you don't always have the time you need, you save it and can't find it, etc. Using the computer at your house is a pain because, I frequently hear, something is wrong with your printer or ink supply.

Try this: www.writely.com

I haven't monkied with it, but it appears that you can type it at home, or anywhere else you have internet access, save it, and then pull it up in my room to print. Give it a try and let me know how it works.

Can you tie this in with class?

Article posted October 5, 2005 at 11:50 PM GMT • Reads 168

A few recent posts seem to be about random thoughts you are having. If there is a tie in to class, let the reader know what it is. If you are blogging a journal entry, let us know that too. Thanks.

Heads up

Article posted November 14, 2005 at 10:29 PM GMT • Reads 179

We've had a crazy schedule the last couple of weeks, but I want to encourage you to keep up with your blogging. Also, if you don't title your blog entry, there's no way I can read it (or at least no way I know of).

New Plan

Article posted January 19, 2006 at 03:46 PM GMT • Reads 132

As you may have noticed, I've fallen a bit behind in keeping your posts current. I appoligize and am working to get caught up. I think the new semester is a good time to get back in the habit of blogging, reading other comments and creating discussion.

Rather than every student beginning their own Shakespeare or Romeo and Juliet thread, I thought it would foster a bit more discussion if we had just one that everyone could contribute too and more easily keep up with. Feel free to start your own discussion of other topics. But let's try to keep those discussions that affect the entire class all in one place.

Shakespeare

Article posted January 19, 2006 at 03:49 PM GMT • Reads 181

What do you think of this guy. Seems he's such an icon that it's difficult to come up with an original idea about him. Either it's cool to hate him or cool, because it's not cool, to like him. That's one of the reasons I think it's important to actually read him. Then you can come up with your own opinion without worrying about what everyone else thinks.

Anyway, what do you think?

What is love

Article posted January 19, 2006 at 03:51 PM GMT • Reads 2806

Romeo and Juliet usually sparks some discussion of the nature of romantic love. How old is too young? How can you every know if it's real? Is it every worth defying your family or dying for? These kinds of questions. Any insights?
