Free Rice - Vocabulary Quiz

Article posted April 1, 2011 at 10:56 PM GMT0 • Reads 690

I have found an interesting activity for you. Not only you can improve your vocabulary skills through it, but you can work for a good cause. Please comment to let me know how you find this quiz.

Free Rice has created a Web site that combines an English Vocabulary-building Quiz with donations of food to hungry people. The way it works is this:

  • You go to freerice.com and start to play a game in which you are given a word and you have to choose the correct definition from among four options.

  • If you choose correctly, the organization will donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program and the next word you get will be slightly harder.

  • If you choose incorrectly, no rice is given but the next word you get will be slightly easier, thus encouraging you to both build your vocabulary and keep trying for correct answers so you can donate food.
